Morning sun shone through the white linen curtains across the room. Jack rolled over and stretched out his arm, which landed on Abbie’s smooth skin. He opened his eyes. As his head cleared, he thought back on everything that had happened—everything until he had gone to bed. Abbie opened her eyes and rolled onto her side, studying him. Everything ached. He had been out in the snow for several hours, rappelled down a cliffside, been hit in the head by a litter, fallen off a ledge, been pulled up, and tromped back to the snowmobile… yeah, that sounded about how he felt.
