Jack gazed through the window. Snow continued to fall in large, fluffy flakes that weighed down the tree limbs and covered the ground in a smooth blanket of white. Abbie’s car was nearly hidden by snow, and beside it was a white mound vaguely shaped like a truck. It felt as though they were alone in the world, safe and warm, in a place where nothing mattered except the two of them as they discovered each other. He had an uncanny sense that it was all meant to be. He shook off the feeling and turned to find Abbie studying the contents of the bookcase near the fireplace.
