I found my ring. Big and beautiful, it looked like it'd been freshly shined. Not abandoned, sitting in a small glass ramekin on Roman's knickknack shelf. It still fit. Still made my hand look like something out of a magazine, still was the best, most beautiful thing I'd ever worn. I popped into the bathroom with it, standing in front of the small mirror. I didn't look any different with it but God I felt so different. Not only was there this weight on that very important finger, but there was also a growing weight on my chest and my conscience and every part of me.
