The eight Disciples in the canoe opened the outboard motor to full throttle, and the canoe tilted upward with a surge of speed. Very soon, they overtook two of the other canoes.
“Hey!” one Disciple shouted after them. “What’s eating you? Is the devil after you?”
So, one of the men in the speeding canoe pointed behind them.
The Disciples in the canoes turned their heads and looked, and their jaws dropped at the sight that met their eyes.
It was terrifying!
It was not only the fact that the man they had supposedly killed some minutes ago was running on the sea, but the way the sea seemed to rise behind him, whipped by his heels, and formed a wide, concave shroud behind him as he came towards them!
The Disciples crossed themselves rapidly with cries of doom then pushed their throttle
