Klaus
Adonis waved from inside the elevator, not elaborating anymore as the doors dinged shut. I groaned as I signed my name on the tablet. I handed it back to the receptionist and made my way towards the elevator.
Eli, change in plans. The head honcho wants The Bayou for tomorrow's dinner. Gonna head there for lunch. Keep him upstairs.
I typed the text message while waiting for the elevator to stop on the 18th floor. This hotel was huge and the 19th floor was used for photo shoots. The 20th floor was currently being turned into a penthouse suite, blocked off from everyone else. We always take the top floor of our hotels and convert them into two huge rooms for when we come and stay. I made my way to Donnie's office, placing my phone and tablet on the table. I slumped in the chair and groaned. He's up to something and it has to do with that restaurant and these two women. It must be Evie because he didn't bother getting the french girls name. His office door opened, breaking me from my thoughts.
"Hey KayKay" the voice was like a bag of howling cats.
"Mona Lisa" I groaned rolling my eyes.
I hated her. She was like a tick we couldn't get rid of. She always claims she's loved Donnie since we were kids, and sure it was most likely a childhood crush, but as we got older, she began to get power hungry, jumping from bed to bed of rich executives, looking to score some more money and status. I told Donnie it was a bad idea inviting her into his bed, but he used his other head as the voice of reason. Now she was like a STD, nasty and hard to get rid of. Mona Lisa hates my guts equally but she's not stupid. She knows to get close to Donnie, she has to get my blessing and that was never gonna happen.
"Donnie bear told me to wait in his office, I have something he needs," she said, walking around his office, making herself comfortable.
Liar. He never lets anyone in his office when he's not there. Even if he did, he's been avoiding her like the plague so there's no way that was true. I eyed her suspiciously as greed flashed in her eyes.
"Would you happen to know where he is KayKay?" she asked in a fake, sweet tone.
"First of all, stop calling me that. Secondly, I hate you." I replied, watching her run her fingers through the books on the bookcase. She made a face but continued to look around his office.
"He loves me you know. I'm gonna be his date to the charity event next week and he's going to propose." she said, turning to look at me.
"You're delusional." I retorted. "But if you must know, he went down to the basement for a smoke break. He was supposed to be back ten minutes ago" I say looking at my watch. "He must have already left to the meeting in midtown, they want to introduce him to the female model they hired to take promos for the charity"
Anger flashed in her eyes. "You look busy, I'll just have one of the drivers take me so I can be his support system." she confidently said.
Dumb broad, it's almost too easy.
"Are you sure? It's rush hour and it's like, 45 minutes away. I am too busy to meet him there but maybe he would enjoy a familiar face. You know how antisocial he is." I said getting her right where I wanted her.
"Oh yes, it's no problem at all KayKay, i'll take really good care of him" she snickered as she practically ran from the office.
I leaned back in the chair and smiled to myself. What a dingbat. I sure hope this Evie chick has a brain connected to her body. Usually we make all preparations over the phone, weeks in advance, but he knows Im going to scout the restaurant after his request this morning. I busied myself with meetings, contracts and event planning. I called upstairs to make sure my brother was on his best behavior at the shoot and I could hear the photographer yelling at him to atleast pretend that he's happy. I smiled and shook my head after hanging up with Eli and decided to make my way to The Bayou. It was a beautiful, crisp fall day. I didn't even need my jacket as I walked down the street, the sun warming my skin. Thanks global warming.
I walked into the restaurant, soft music played as I took in the deep oak surroundings. It was kinda dark and mysterious like the bayou but homey too. I was greeted by a fair skinned girl with dark brown, almost black hair, with bangs. She was wearing all black and it complimented her big, green baby doll eyes.
"Welcome to the bayou! Just one today sugar?" She said as I walked towards the hostess counter.
"Yes, thank you. And could I bother you for a request? Can I have Evie as my waitress today? Shes just so beautiful and friendly." I asked leaning on the podium and smiling at her.
Confusion flashed on her face while she thought of an answer. "Well, Evie isn't a waitress here. Shes a patissier. But her cousin Jaqui is a waitress and she's .... also beautiful" She answered hesitantly.
I chuckled as she gave me a small smile. "Wait here for just a minute" she said before scurrying to the bar and whispered in another woman's ear. Her straight white hair was streaked with a dozen pastel pink, blue, purple and green highlights and stopped at her elbows. She looked over to me quizzically and walked to the podium, grabbing a menu. She led me to a table by the kitchen and smiled sweetly as I sat down.
"Jaqui is on break honey. It'll be another ten minutes before she comes and gets your order. Before she comes in, I would talk to the patissier. Her desserts are to die for" She said winking before she turned to walk away.
After she walked back towards the bar, I made my way to the kitchen. Since it was lunch, the three chefs in the back were busy cooking. I made my way deeper into the kitchen and there Evie was. Her dark red hair was piled high onto her head in a extremely messy bun. She had flour all over her clothes and face and she was staring into a oven.
"Oh buggar, rise already!" she said tapping the glass door.
"You know they say watched pots never boil right?" I asked leaning against the counter.
She jumped around with her palm laying flat on her chest.
"You nearly gave me a heart attack! Who are you?" she asked suspiciously, narrowing her almond shaped eyes.
Her left eye was the greenest green I've ever seen, and her right eye was hazel with specks of green splashed through it. No wonder Adonis is enamored with her.
"Hi, I'm Klaus Vincent. I'm throwing a business dinner tomorrow night and a charity event next week and heard that the desserts here are to die for. I wanted to come see for myself." I say, extending my hands towards her.
She shook it hesistantly as she said "Oh, well, that's something you should talk to the owner about. She's a pretty little thing with pastel hair, you can't miss her. I just follow recipes"
She turned back to the ovens and squealed in delight.
"Yes, finally," she said putting on some oven mitts and pulling the soufflés out of the oven.
"Would you like to try? They're french vanilla and coffee flavored." she said proudly handing me one.
"Mmm they are delectable! Can I have one to go? My brother lives on a diet containing only coffee. He'll fall in love with you - uh them, I mean. The soufflés" I say licking the spoon.
"Sure" she said smiling with a hint of confusion.
"Sooo, been here long?" I ask taking another bite.
"Here as in? I've worked here for about three years, but moved to New York from London about seven years ago with my cousin. Speaking of, I can't believe you made it past her. She can be quite overbearing sometimes" She said with love in her voice. "It needs more sugar." she said scrunching her nose up. "Where are you from Klaus Vincent?"
"Hah, so formal. You brits really are the definition of grace." I said earning a giggle from her. "We're from California. We as in my older brother and I. We're here for a couple of weeks for business." I said licking my spoon.
Suddenly there was a loud conversation in french coming from the front of the kitchen.
"Oh dear" Evie said, carefully placing a soufflé in a little black to go box with a gold ribbon. "That's your cue" she says handing me the box.
Before I could ask what she meant, a small french woman with jet black hair and sky blue eyes came to the back. She raised a eyebrow and looked me up and down.
"Monsieur, please come to the front. This area is restricted to customers and pastry chefs need complete concentration. Especially when they come into work late" she said shooting a disapproving look at Evie.
I stifled a giggle as she stuck her tongue out when Jaqui turned around. As she led me to the front, I locked eyes with Yandy.
"Llandela Souvignon? Klaus Vincent. Do you have an office? I want to book your company for two events" I say extending my hand towards the young girl with pastel hair.
Both her and Jaqui's mouth fell open in shock but she quickly recovered.
"Why ofcourse dear, this way" she said as she led me to the corner of the restaurant and up some steps. We were completely at the top when I looked down and saw Jaqui still looking at me with her suspicious blue eyes. She's the Klaus to Evie's Adonis and I know exactly how to get into her good graces.
************************************
Although it was extremely short notice, Yandy agreed to cater our dinner tomorrow. It was a celebratory event for taking ownership of our newest hotel and alot of big wigs were going to be there. Next week was a Halloween charity event, and we secured her a spot among the food trucks. Turns out her parents have some restaurants in some of our hotels in Louisiana. When I researched The Bayou, her parents names were immediately familiar to me. I also recognized her as a social media influencer. She specialized in "business sexy" and tasteful webcam shows, much to her parents dismay. Atleast she was enjoying running a business, unlike Adonis. I can see it in his eyes, he feels trapped. I let out a sigh as the elevator stopped at the 19th floor. Two guards standing on either side of the elevator slightly turned their heads and nodded when they realized it was me.
I walked over to a plush blue couch where Eli was sitting. Elliott Samuels is my brothers bff. I like to say they're common law married, Eli is usually glued to Adonis' hip, sometimes acting like a body guard although Donnie is more than capable of protecting himself. They grew up together, their birthdays only a week apart. His blonde hair was disheveled and his blue eyes sparkled in the sunlight coming through the tall windows. He was wearing a baby blue collared shirt that hugged his strong arm and chest muscles. His denim jeans fit his strong legs perfectly as they were propped up on the glass coffee table. I walked past and playfully pushed them off and sat on the loveseat beside him.
"How's he looking?" I asked, looking over to Adonis.
His brown hair was crazy and loose like a lions mane. He was wearing a perfectly tailored dark blue Armani suit with a crisp white button up. I think this shoot is about a watch. Or a suit, I should know these things but I've been so busy today, I forgot.
"Like a model" Eli shrugged scrolling on his phone.
I gave him a look and he sighed heavily. "Unhappy" He finally said, looking at me with sadness in his eyes.
I frowned and turned to look at him. His light grey eyes looked void of any emotion, and his lips were in a permanent frown. Because of his icy demeanor and intimidating scar, offers from different companies began pouring in, begging him to model their products. At first, Adonis flat out refused, but I convinced him this could be what's missing in his life. This could be the career jump he needed to finally move on from the corporate world. Turns out that Adonis is really hard to please and nothing on Earth make him happy. Except for Evie, I thought. This morning was the first time in months I seen a genuine smile cross his face and he actually got involved in company matters. He's been checked out for a few weeks, pushing all decision making and delegations to me.
I walked over to Donnie and handed him the black box with a spoon.
"Not hungry" He replied looking back at the camera.
"Donnie." I said in a warning tone. "You haven't eaten and I bet you've only had coffee and cigarettes today. Sit. Eat. It's only a soufflé, not a three course meal."
"Good, maybe he'll come back with a smile on his face!" The photographer huffed as he and his assistant turned to the sitting area Eli was in.
Donnie made a face and unwrapped the box as he sat on a bench at the end of the bed. I sat beside him and handed him the spoon. He began to eat and a satisfied groan left his lips.
"Good right? Tastes just like french vanilla coffee. I think the amount of sugar is perfect." I said scrolling through my phone.
Which was true, I thought it was perfect how it was. But Evie must really like sugar cos she said it needed more. On top of being a chain smoker, Donnie is also a sugar addict, and there's never enough sugar for him.
"Could use a pinch more" He said shoveling the dessert into his mouth.
I laughed as I rolled my eyes. "Anyways big brother, Turns out the Souvignon's own The Bayou. So getting them to agree to cater our dinner tomorrow wasn't that difficult. You know they're with mom and dad in the Barbados."
He stiffened at the mention of our parents. "Oh." He said, before slowly eating again.
"I also may have told them that the wait staff were experiencing some scheduling issues and Yandy, the daughter of the Souvignon's, so graciously assured me that we can borrow a couple of her girls. There's a certain British sweetheart, who is not a waitress but a pastry chef." I said as Donnie began to choke on the soufflé.
I laughed and handed him a bottle of water that was in a cooler next to the tripod.
"But she said she can pull some strings, so dress to impress tomorrow my dear brother," I said patting his head and turning to walk away.
"Thanks Klaus" He said, a smile spreading across his lips.
I smiled and nodded, telling the photographer he was ready when I walked out to the common area.
"Oh lord, it's a miracle! He's smiling! Quick fix the lights, get my camera!" I heard the photographer exclaim as Eli and his assistant jumped to their feet.
Evie is the best thing to ever happen to us and she doesn't even know it yet.
Evie
"Oh Jaqui, I can't. There's no way." I groaned, fidgeting with the buttons on my white shirt.
Somehow Yandy managed to book us for a last minute dinner. The Bayou's chefs were in the hotels kitchen, and Jaqui, Kitty and I were standing outside the kitchen, waiting for our cue. There were four other girls, all dressed like us and waiting. we all had on shockingly white collared shirts, underneath tiny black vests that acted like a push-up bra. Even Kitty, who had a tiny chest looked full and voluptuous. I felt awfully uncomfortable, my DD breasts were painfully obvious. We also had to wear black pencil skirts that stopped mid thigh. Everyone had on black pumps, except for me. I had on ballerina flats. Looking at everyone else, I felt so out of place. All the women here were slender and looked like models. Their hair was in various styles, but perfect looking. Even standing next to Jaqui I felt out of place. Like a ugly duckling in a room full of swans. She reused to let me put my hair into a messy bun, so it was in loose, unruly waves, cascading down my back. I peeked through the door and saw a bunch of people in fancy ball gown attire, standing around drinking and laughing. My nerves began to creep up again. Someone handed me a tray carrying flutes of champagne.
"Here Jaqui, you do it" I said trying to hand her the tray.
But much to my dismay, she already had one in her hands. She rolled her eyes and shook her head.
"Do it as a favor to Yandy. Now come on, put a smile on that beautiful face and work this room!" She said before confidently exiting the double doors and swaying her hips.
The other girls were chatting happily as they each exited with their trays. I was standing alone, behind the double doors. I should just run. If I go home now, no one would even realize I was gone. But Yandy is depending on us, I can't let her down. I let out a deep breath and slowly pushed the doors open. I kept my eyes glued to the floor as I slowly shuffled through the crowd. I stopped when a shiny, expensive looking pair of black dress shoes stopped in front of me. What the hell, doesn't this guy see me trying to get this over with.
"Sorry, excuse me" I said, trying to go around him, but he quickly blocked my way again.
"What the hell?" I asked, looking up.
My eyes trailed up his legs, covered by black dress slacks, his black jacket and vest clung to his black button up shirt that hugged his thick frame. It looked like it was hanging on by a thread. My mouth watered and before I made my way to his eyes, I knew exactly who he was was. I was staring into the light grey eyes from my dreams. Half of his hair was neatly done in a man bun, the other half hung freely to his shoulders. He was flashing his signature panty dropping smile and I had to catch my breath.
"Oh f**k me" I breathed.
Lust flashed in his eyes and he took a step forward, closing the distance in between us. He gently placed his hand on my waist and pulled me to his body. My core was dripping wet at this point and I could feel his member start to wake up. A smile spread across his lips as he licked them, causing me to squeeze my thighs together.
"Say that again" he whispered, sending a shiver down my spine.
Bloody hell, I'm in trouble.
