Mom told a story about her family who had also passed away. I also couldn't stop telling him what happened to Mom and Dad. I feel light and comfortable here with Mom, I don't know why. I also couldn't control my feelings and tears started to fall in my eyes while looking back on our memories of Mom and Dad. In the end, he hugged me, and I didn't realize that I fell asleep again.
It was late when Mom woke me up. I was even more surprised because she was wearing a maid outfit. He is an assistant here, why didn't he mention it?
"Oh, hija, are you pregnant and always sleeping? It's a good thing they didn't find you in the kitchen earlier." He said at length while sitting on the edge of the bed.
I got up quickly. I immediately looked for my bag and saw that it was in a corner near the cabinet.
I removed the blanket hugging me and stood up.
"I'm leaving." I said, but he immediately stopped me.
He held my hand so he looked at me.
"Where are you going again? It looks like you're still dreaming." While you're laughing.
I shook my head and gently removed his hand from mine.
"I-I'm not from here... I-I don't know you..." I said.
He was stunned when I said that. His smile hung in the air as he stared at me. But soon he smiled too.
"I know, hija." He said, making me stop.
"Y-You know..." I was suddenly nervous. Maybe something will happen to me! "P-But why did you still bring me here when you know that you don't know me..."
"Didn't your Auntie Debbie mention it?"
My eyes widened. I even recoiled in shock. How... How did he meet auntie.
I shook my head.
Maybe he's referring to someone else.
"W-Who is Auntie Debbie?" I pretend to ask.
He smiled.
"Why, you don't know your own aunt. You can say this to Debbie." He said, laughing. "I'm the friend your Aunt was talking about. You're Rhea, aren't you? Your Auntie sent you here to work?"
I was even more stunned. How did he even know that?
"Am I right, hija?" He confirmed. "It's a good thing that Debbie showed me your face one day." He watched my face with a smile on his lips. "You don't look too far from the picture he showed me and how you look now so I didn't have a hard time recognizing you."
I couldn't speak. My mind processed what he was saying. Does he know Auntie? Is he the one Auntie says is looking for a helper? And he saw my face because Auntie showed him?
"I'm sorry I didn't confront you right away earlier. I assure you it's you." He said it again. "And I'm right. That's you. Welcome to Manila, hija."
I still can't speak. It happened too fast.
He laughed because I didn't react.
"Am I too fast?" then laughed. "Oh, for now you should rest. Tomorrow I will introduce you to Sir and I know that he is still mourning now."
I just nodded.
"You can put your clothes in the bottom cabinet, you're empty." He pointed to the cabinet in the corner. "I'll just go back to the kitchen and maybe I'll be needed. Maybe around ten o'clock I'll be
back here too."
I nodded again.
When he closed the door I was stunned.
What happened?
I was startled when my phone rang loudly. I quickly took it and answered it.
"Someone- "
I was cut off when he spoke quickly, still shouting.
"The truth, Rhea, where are you?!" He shouted at me. "It's night, Rhea! I told you to call so I know where you are, but the whole day has passed and I haven't received a single call from you! Where have you been?!"
"T-Come, Man- "
"I wish I had picked you up at the bus station so you would have been here earlier! You're worrying me- "
"T-Uncle, I'm fine." I said.
"How can I be sure, Rhea, huh?! Well, you're not here at home!"
"I'm here where you said I would work."
Auntie was stunned.
"What are you?" He said after stopping for a moment. "Where are you, Rhea?! You're with Loyda? You're with Loyda?!"
"What, Man- "
"How come you're there?!" He interrupted again.
"You didn't even show me first?! Also, where did you meet Loyda?"
"I'm really lost, Aunt- "
"Did I say- "
"Aunt, I'll explain."
"Oh, come on! What? What happened to you? Why did you get lost?"
"I fell asleep on the bus I was riding, and when I woke up, I had passed your place. The conductor of the bus I took showed me where the bus station was so I could go there to you—"
"How did you meet Loyda?"
"I was walking when I stopped at the church. I was going to go in to rest and pray, but I saw someone dead there." I explain. "I was about to leave when a Mother called me. I didn't know, but I was followed, e—"
"You go with someone you don't know?! Rhea, what if that's not Loyda?! How could you be!"
"Uncle, it's not. And I'm so grateful because it's your friend who has surpassed me."
"Hey, Rhea, next time don't go with each other, maybe you'll be fine." He preached.
"What, Man."
"Please talk to Loyda."
"He's still in the kitchen, Auntie."
"Oh, okay, okay, I'll talk to him tomorrow. Be careful about that."
"Yes, Auntie, thank you."
Tiya hung up the call. I sighed and sat on the bed. I looked around my room. It's just the right size. He is not small and he is not big. Perfect for someone. Even too much.
Just like Mom said, he came back right at ten o'clock at night. He was still dressed as a servant. I got up immediately when he closed the door.
"Oh, are you still awake?" He asked when he saw me get up.
I just nodded.
"Are you changing?"
I shook my head.
"Aunt called." I said.
"It's a pity I didn't catch up. I'll call him tomorrow!" This is it. "Alright, let's go to sleep. I'll introduce you to Sir tomorrow before he goes to work."
I'm excited and happy too. I can finally give Chael a good life. Mom, Dad, guide me through the life I will face in this job.
