"Oh, here is the final destination of this bus," the conductor said when we stopped again.
I was surprised by what he said. So I quickly stood up and approached him while carrying my luggage.
"Ah, Sir, can I ask?"
He looked at me. "What is it, hija?"
I showed him Auntie's message.
"Where is it?"
He read what was written on my phone. He read it for a few moments before looking at me.
"Oh, hija, we've passed that place." This is it.
My eyes widened. "Yes?!"
"Oh, hi."
How is it! Why am I still asleep!
"Just take the bus again over there on the other corner next to Jollibee so you can get there. Get off and I'll close it." He said this last before going down.
I had no choice but to go down. I was carrying the black bag while walking and trying to find the bus station he said.
I stopped in front of the church. I felt tired and thirsty because the sun was already setting. I entered the church, and my eyes were drawn to the side with many white vans. I was about to enter to pray and rest inside the church when I stopped.
I was just at the entrance of the church when the white and black people came out. I was turned sideways when the coffin passed in front of me.
The day when Mom and Dad were gone came to my mind as I followed the coffin. Their place was not that beautiful, but I know they understood that. I wiped when my tears suddenly fell. This is not the time to be discouraged, Rhea. You can do that! We can handle it!
The people who were crying followed that coffin. I don't even know who to look at because of their cries. I just walked out with them so I wouldn't disturb them.
When we left the church, I saw that they were getting into the vans parked outside. I was about to leave because it looked like a funeral I attended. But I stopped walking when someone shouted.
"Hey, where are you going!"
I turned around at the vans and looked at the old woman who was also looking at me. I looked at it confused. I don't know if it was me.
"Come on and leave us alone!" It screamed again.
I looked around but saw no one but myself. I looked at him again. And then pointed to himself in confusion.
"A-are you calling me?"
"Who else is there but you! Come on!" He even gestured for me to come to him.
Hesitantly, I stepped closer to him. What does he need from me? I was nervous.
"I-I don't know you- "
I didn't finish what I was going to say when he grabbed my wrist and led me to the white van that was alone. The others have already left.
"You talk a lot. Sir Christian will be angry with us!" He said while I was more. We went straight to the van.
I don't know why I let him get over me. When he opened the door, there was no one else on board but the driver who was also quite old.
It turned to us and stared at me.
"Come on, Kevin, they might be in the cemetery, Sir." The old man said to the man. And I was pushed into the van.
I was stunned by the speed of the incident. I hadn't processed what was happening yet when the white van drove off.
"Where are you going? You took the wrong road!"
The old woman said to me.
"A-Ah..."
I couldn't answer because I was interrupted when someone called the phone I was holding. He talked, and I let him be.
I looked outside and saw that we were passing tall buildings. We stopped for a while. I saw that we were in the cemetery.
The old woman grabbed me and took me to where others were wearing the same clothes. We stood at the very back. As I heard the cries of the people while lowering the coffin to the ground, I stared at two children held by a man. This prevented the boy and girl from running toward the coffin.
"My pets are poor. Mommy died." Whispered the old man who accompanied me here.
"What happened?"
He looked at me. I couldn't believe what I said. Why? Well, I don't know what's going on. I don't even know why I'm here when I don't know what they're crying about.
"You don't know what happened to your boss? To our boss?" he asked me with an expression as if he couldn't believe it.
I looked at him carefully. I don't think he's old enough to recognize that I'm not really here. But why did he act like this? Why is he forcing me to be here? Do I look like anyone with him?
"I-I don't know them..." I said weakly.
"Don't fool me, this kid is." He said then looked again at the crying person in front.
I just looked there too. How can I convince this mom that I'm not here? Hey! Aunt might be looking for me!
