My heart leaped for joy when I saw Liam. I opened my arms to receive him as he happily ran towards me. He looked very happy for someone who was taken away.
I embraced him in a tight hug and wouldn’t let go. “I had the best day ever.” He said as he was curled up in me.
“What?” I pulled away, trying to understand his statement.
“That uncle was very nice.” He pointed towards Alessandro. Vito was right, they wouldn’t hurt a child.
I looked at him for a few seconds, grateful to have him back, and took him back to the car.
“I’m happy I didn’t go to school today.” He said as we got into the car.
