The Divorce

Zara's POV

Shattered and broken,with tears rolling down my face,I needed to get my act together,I do not wish to see him again,I needed to clear my head,so I drove to a bar close to the house,thinking of what to do, I eventually came up with a plan, I checked my time and it was just twelve noon,I decided to call my lawyer first, then go to the bank,cancel all credit cards and make sure I closed all the accounts that we both had. Picking up my phone I dialed my lawyers number.

“ I'm lodging for a divorce,can I book an appointment?” I said

“ Whhhaat? Uhm… sure, I'll get back to you” he replied on the other end.

Trying hard to fight my tears back,I hung up the phone.

After I had taken few drinks,I thought it would be better to head to the bank now before Rowan gets ahead of me,I stood up,paid for my drink and drove straight home, luckily enough for me I didn't meet Rowan at home,I quickly took a quick bath,wore a nice dress, while I was about leaving the bedroom,I saw our wedding picture that we had framed,with Rowan and myself smiling I found tears running down my eyes again. I had promised myself not to cry anymore,he doesn't deserve any of my tears.

The drive to the bank was quick and was a quiet one,and luckily for me the queue was moving quite fast, as I waited for my turn,my mind kept flashing back to what just happened I decided to listen to a song that might make me feel better than what I'm feeling right now.

It was eventually my turn, checking the time it was one forty-five pm already, I spoke to the concierge about why I was there,and I was taken the Manager's office to speak with the manager.

“ What can we do for you ma'am” he asked.

“ I am here to close my account” I replied politely and cautiously,he was a bit shocked because I was closing a huge sum of amount.

This was my first real step to end this marriage and get revenge on that cheating bastard, I hope he enjoys what he is about to get from me,which of course will be the greatest shock and suprise of his life.

As I walked out of the bank, trying of what I wanted to do next and how I was going to break the news to my parents and grandfather, an idea popped in my head, I was going to list our home,I was literally on fire and revenge had gotten my claws out,I decided to take my things out of the house and look for a new place first because I couldn't go back to the mansion,it was going to be a living hell for me and besides getting a house or penthouse suite won't be a problem for me.

I got back back home and Rowan hadn't gotten back, I guess he wouldn't be coming home for a while, it was a long and memorable day for me,I fell to my bed and almost immediately I slept off.

Luckily for me,the next day was a weekend,I decided to look for Helen's number she was my friend and was into real estate and listing of houses.

“ Been a while Zara” she said

“ Yea, Morning, I would like to list my house, I ll send you the land deed from when I purchased the house” I said and hung up not allowing her ask any further questions.

I looked for my land deeds, sent it to her,she had the paperwork done and listed it, everything was falling into places just as I expected it to be.

Falling back to my bed,I called my grandfather and broke my news to him including the divorce part which of course everyone will hear of.

“ Grandpa,I ll like to take some months off” I finally managed to say after much thoughts.

He finally agreed to give me six months off after much pleas.

My phone rang almost immediately I dropped my grandfather's and it was Helen calling..

“ Hello, Helen” I answered

“ Can we meet up tomorrow” she asked

“ Yes sure,thank you” I said hanging up.

I can't wait for all this to be over, I thought, remembering I had to meet to meet my lawyer today,I took a quick shower and headed to meet him at a cafe since it was on a weekend.

“ Zara are you sure about this? you know you can talk to me and we can always talk things out with him” he prompted, he has been my lawyer for eight years now.

“ Can I get a divorce today?” I said bringing out the video I had copied from our CCTV footage and handling it over to him.

“ I know you were going to say,i didn't have enough evidence “ I continued

After watching and observing keenly for a while

“ Well…uhm.. with this,I think we can try and if all goes as planned,you will have him gone by next week “ he said.

“ Thank you, and I will also like to make some changes in my will, I wish Rowan's share go to charity “ I said

“ That won't be a problem, you just need to sign a few documents “ he told me

“ Alright, I'll be waiting for the documents,thank you”I said while getting up.

Twas a Sunday morning, waking up to the sound of my alarm,I saw it was past nine in the morning, I turned to pick up my phone and I saw that I had already missed two calls from Helen, I almost forgot we were to meet today so I called her back.

“ I have the paperwork ready and the price you asked,I'll like for you to sign it,also I looked up some penthouse for you too” she said

“ Okay? Thank you, can you come over to my place or should we meet up somewhere?” I asked

“ I'll just come over to your place instead “ she said

“ Okay, thank you that would be better” I hung up

That was so fast I thought.

Helen arrived two hours later, I signed the documents, then she showed me some of the penthouses she had looked up and I loved the third one she showed me on the computer screen,it was already furnished and she said it was five million pounds.

“ Can I pay the owner four million in cash?” I had asked because I wanted to move in straightway.

“Well, we will have to talk to the owner first” she said

“ Let me give him a call” she continued.

After patiently waiting for the call to end.

“He said he will accept your offer,only if you pay four million five hundred pounds” she finally said

“ Ohh ..uhmmm,okay sure that's a relief,thank you Helen,I think I have to start clearing,and yes..if you see a buyer you can remove your commission” I said standing up.

It wasn't like I was interested in the money anyways

“ I'll get back to you”,she said while leaving.

“ Can you call your auctioneer guy to come over and help me clear stuffs that I don't want” I shouted behind her.

The rest of the afternoon was spent packing the stuffs I wanted to take with me into boxes and bags.

It was Monday morning already,my lawyer called .

“Zara the divorce papers and the will are ready for signing “ he said over the phone.

“ You can come to my office by noon” he continued

By now the auctioneer guy arrived with his team and had started clearing the stuffs I don't want,the house was almost empty by now and by the end of four hours, the house was empty I had asked them to clear Rowan's stuffs too. I asked the guy if he could help me take some of my things to my new home,which he agreed collecting the address.

By now, my car was full with my boxes and bags, I decided to wait till it's noon before I finally leave.

Getting to my lawyer's office,signing the divorce papers and will didn't take much time,so I drove straight to my new home where I was sure Rowan wouldn't find me, at least not for now.

“ Zara, you are starting afresh and you will do just fine” I said to myself taking a deep breath and zooming off.

Getting there,the suite was quite spacious,quiet with a breathtaking view, large bedrooms and expansive terrace.

My phone has been ringing non-stop and when I finally decided to pick it and see who it was,I smiled wickedly seeing Rowan's name.I have been expecting the bastard call all day.

“ Zara,have you finally lost your f*****g mind?have you gone crazy?he shouted immediately I picked up the call.

“I promise you don't want to see how crazy I can be, because you wouldn't even be able to breathe” I responded

“ Well, I'm guessing you like my little surprise with the tone of your voice” I laughed

“I'm not signing those divorce papers”he continued

“ Of course you are darling,but I won't force you to sign it, unless you want to see how far my grandfather can go,” I said calmly.

“ This is just the beginning sweetheart,what were you thinking? you can hurt me and go scot-free pretending like nothing happened?I hate to break the news to you but you made a grievous mistake, bye honey”

Hanging up the call,I laughed so loudly, feeling an instant relief,I was happy I was able to get back at him, I picked up my phone and made sure that I blocked his number and unfollowed him on all social media platform,I changed my profile from being married to single, uploaded a new picture,ordered for a box of chips and chicken and then put my phone on airplane mode,the house was set so I only had my clothes to arrange, halfway into unpacking and arranging my order was delivered and I signed.

Closing the door behind me,I devoured the food to my satisfaction and i didn't know when I slept off, tossing on my couch,I fell with a loud thud waking me up suddenly,I didn't realize that I have slept for four hours,I was so exhausted and lazily stood up to dispose the box I used to eat,I remembered my phone was still on airplane mode so I decided to put if off and almost immediately Helen's message popped up on my phone screen.

“I have found a buyer for your apartment,if you get this message call me” it read

Thinking she might have tried my number several times,I dialed her number and she picked it up almost immediately.

“Hello Zara,I have been trying your number for ages now” she said even before I could utter any word

“Yea,I just woke up,my phone was on airplane mode “I responded sitting on the couch

“ I found someone who was interested in your apartment,but he said he'll pay three million pounds instead of the thirty-five hundred and so I decided to ask if you are okay with it”

“ Hmm..okay..sure you can sell it,wire me two million pounds and take your fee of a million pounds,thank you”

“What?you meant what you just said right? because that's way above what I charged” she screamed.

“ Let's just say it's your lucky day,thanks Helen,do have a nice night rest”

“A nice night rest , it is indeed thank you Zara”She hung up.

It wasn't like I needed the money anyways,I just wanted revenge and the dispose of the apartment.

It was just past eight,the night was still young so I decided to head downstairs using the elevator and almost immediately I got out of my apartment,a good looking man stepped out and that was when I noticed that he was my neighbor because it was a duplex penthouse,

“Hi,I guess you are my new neighbor that just packed in today” he said smiling at me as entered and descended down the building,I just stared at him coldly without uttering a word.

“ Ohh..my bad,my name is Luke and I live nextdoor,I hope you cook well because you might see quite often” he continued

As I stepped out the elevator,I decided to walk down the street,then I heard Luke shouting behind me

“ You might need someone to show you around you know?”

“ Let the map do that asshole,Christ,I hate men, always jumping at women at any slightest opportunity motherfucking bastards” I cursed under my breath, walking away.
