Here I wait again

Adele POV  We reached the Belleayre Chalets early in the afternoon. I felt tired from the long drive and could not wait to get to our room. The view from the mountains was incredible. The ground was upholstered with snow and there were trees everywhere. This was really the change we needed from the busy New York city. Tom dropped me near the reception while he went to park the car. Feeling cold, I decided to head inside to wait for him to do the formalities. The reception area was all in wood with bright lights hanging from the ceiling. The entire room was neat and screamed elegance. The temperature was perfect, making me forget that it was snowy and cold outside. There were white tulips in several vases around the room. To the right of the reception desk, some vintage sofas were placed two by two so that couples could sit near each other. I wondered if the clientele were mainly couples. After all, the romantic scenery was their asset. Sitting at the far right was a young man in his thirties was scrolling his phone, frowning, maybe waiting for his wife just like I was waiting for Tom. He wore a deep green polo shirt and cream pants. A few seats next to him was an old couple sitting next to each other. They were holding hands and looked adorable. I decided to head there to wait for Tom. I took a seat in the chair between the young man and the couple. The big sofa was comfortable and so soft that I could spend the day in there. From where I was, I could smell the man's cologne, a spicy aromatic fragrance with notes of lime, bergamot and teakwood. On my left, the old couple were giggling and holding hands and I could not help but smile. I wish Tom and I could grow old together like them. After all, that's what this trip was all about. Giving a chance to our marriage. The minutes went by and there was no sign of Tom. I started to feel frustrated. What could take him so long? I internally battled between going to look for him or not. After what looked like ages, Tom finally crossed the door holding our bags. Searching the room, he finally found me and flashed a bright smile. Oh, the smile that made me fall for him… I joined him and we both headed to the reception desk for the registration. Behind the desk was a young lady in maybe her late twenties, dressed in black pants and a white shirt. She had her hair pulled in a bun and wore a burgundy lipstick. She looked professional but still beautiful. “Hello, welcome to the Belleayre Chalets. I am Savannah, how can I help you ? ” she says. “Hi, we booked a room here for Mr. and Mrs. Tom George.” Tom replies flashing his bright smile to her. “Ok, let me just verify.” She says and she searches in her database. “ After few minutes, smiling, she hands us a pair of keys and guides us to the corridor on the left of the reception desk. “Follow me, I will take you to your chalet.” We grabbed our bags and followed Savannah. We had booked an individual chalet as I really wanted us to enjoy some private time and maybe try some new things to spice things up between us. It was a bit more expensive than the regular rooms but I thought it was worth it if I wanted to make things work.
