‘Where are you taking me?’ Ebony growled as Brad opened the passenger door for her.
‘I’d like it to be a surprise. Can you wait?’
‘No.’ Ebony stared at him, her patience running out. ‘It’s been a very difficult twenty-four hours. No, it’s been a very difficult two weeks. No more surprises, no more secrets.’
‘Okay, fair enough,’ he said, looking sideways at her.
‘I bought a house on a large block in Daylesford. It’s walking distance to the town.’
‘So you’re going to park me in the middle of nowhere? It’s bad enough that I have no friends, no family, now I’ll have no one around me either. Great.’ Ebony sulked.
