CHAPTER 6 "I'm sorry." I spoke up, bringing sound to the quietness between us. We've been sitting here in an awkward silence for the past 3 minutes, but to be honest. It's felt like hours. "Yeah, me too." Damien replied, scratching the back of his neck. Something he did when he felt awkward. Though I'm glad he's not the only one who feels this way. It's been 2 weeks since we last spoke, also 2 weeks since the strange man called me. Though I'm not complaining, maybe he clearly sees it as I do? Just a one night stand. "I shouldn't of said what I did, it was wrong. And out of line." Damien said, fiddling with his hands. "It's fine, really. I shouldn't of reacted the way I did. I knew you were only looking out for me." I explained, as we were looking at each other now. Then out of nowhere we both erupted in laughter. "I've really missed you." Damien said after catching his breath. "Me too." I replied with a wide smile. "So, I know I shouldn't, but you know me?" Damien laughed, which cause me to raise a brow at him. Smiling at him, curious as to what he wants to ask. "But, has that guy. You know? Have you guys, you know? Met up again?" Damien stuttered, trying not trigger another argument. Which only made me grin at him more. "No, of course not. Wait. Well, that was that one time." I recall going into thought. "Wait, for real? Now you got to tell me." Damien demanded in anticipation, but I only rolled my eyes at his childishness. "It was after our fight. He, uh, called me." I explained, feeling awkward for speaking about this. 'I mean, I have a fiancé right now. So, there's a million other topics I would rather discuss.' I thought. "It didn't last long, but since then we haven't spoken." I continued. Picking up my mug as I sipped on it. Right now we were sitting at a café, enjoying some coffee and cakes. To be honest it felt nice, I haven't done this with Damien for a while. And it didn't help we weren't talking to each other for 2 weeks. It almost killed me, plus the fact Nathan keeps sneaking around. Right now, I just needed a friend. And Damien was perfect. "Well, what did you talk about?" Damien asked, getting more interested in the topic. Though I'd prefer if we'd just drop it all together. But before I could form any words, someone already spoke up behind me. "Oh, you know. The usual f**k off conversation you have after a goodnight." A deep voice spoke, causing me to halt as my mug started to slowly burn in my hands. "Here. You're gonna hurt yourself, love." He took the mug from my hand and placed it on the table in front of me and Damien. "You must be Damien." The man said, leaning his hand out for Damien to shake. Which Damien didn't hesitate to, as his eyes sparkled like a child on Christmas day. 'Seriously, Damien?' I thought to myself. I then composed my shocked state, glaring up at the man. "Just when I thought my prays have been answered." I frown distastefully. But the man only turned his head, smirking down at me. Since he was standing and we were sitting in a booth. "Who said I came to see you, though you're beautiful. I have some files to drop off to my newest employee." He the turned to Damien placing some files on his side of the table. I felt heat rush to my cheeks. I didn't know if it was either from his compliment, or the fact I felt like a fool. 'Wait, why didn't Damien tell me this guy was his boss!?' I thought with anger building up inside me. ************* "I swear, Hazel. You have to believe me." Damien chased behind me. I can't believe this right now. I mean I shouldn't be angry, but seriously? His Boss!? I stopped, letting out a sigh as I let Damien catch up to me. "Please, Hazel. I didn't know, I swear." He spoke again as he reached me, breathing heavily to catch his breath. I dropped my head in embarrassment. "Yeah, I know." I said after a while, lifting my head to look at him. Damien smiled widely. "Thank f**k, I seriously thought I had to go to serve measures, just to persuade you." He chuckled. I only laughed a little at his joke. 'Serve measures, huh?' "I can't believe you screwed my boss though." Damien laughed, which only earned a scowl from me. "Okay, okay. I'll stop now." He put his hands up in surrender. I only rolled my eyes. Walking side by side with him down the street to his apartment. "So, who is your boss exactly?" I asked curiously. Though I shouldn't care, but for some reason it was eating at the back of my head. I needed to know, but for some reason I felt a tinge of guilt for even asking. "Oh, Mr Williams?" Damien asked, but then smiled knowingly. I only rolled my eyes and shoved him playfully. "Yeah, forget I even asked." I grumbled. But Damien only smiled more. He then threw an arm around my shoulder as we continued to walk to his place. "He's the most successful CEO of this city. And the most well known with the ladies." He wriggled his eyes saying the last bit, but I only scowled at him. "Yeah, I think I heard enough." I said as we opened his front door. "Oh, come on Hazel. I know there's more you want to know? I mean, you just slept with the most wealthiest man in our city. And then you-" Damien started crackling up laughing. As if something funny came to his thoughts. "What? What did I do?" I asked annoyed, but Damien only continued to laugh. Clutching his stomach. 'Oh, come on. It can't be that funny.' I thought with irritation. "Oh my gosh, Hazel." He laughed out, but I only threw a pillow at him from his couch. "What?" Now I was growing impatient. I mean, what exactly did I do to cause him to laugh like this? "You wrote him an apology letter!" He shouted out in fits of laughter. I felt my whole face pale. Just the thought of that caused me to feel uneasy. "I didn't." I mumbled in disbelief. "But you did!" He laughed louder this time. I slouched into Damien's couch, hoping it will eat me whole. I felt my face even grow a crimson red from the memory. 'Oh, no.'
