CHAPTER 4: OFFICIALLY MARRIED
THIRD PERSON POV
Everything is already prepared for the wedding of Adrian and Celestine today.
Adrian is already wearing his white tuxedo but he is still glued in his seat until now. He is just staring in his window with his emotionless face.
He has no choice but to agree with the marriage even though it is against his will. If it was the decision of his dad then he needs to adhere to it no matter what happens.
His mind is full of Erica's face – his former wife who they believe was already dead.
Everytime he is thinking about Celestine, the woman that he is about to marry, his blood is boiling because he really hates this naive woman.
She left a bad impression on him and what Adrian hates the most are stupid people.
Adrian was interrupted by zoning out when his cell phone suddenly vibrated which means someone sent him a text message.
He took his cell phone to check the message and he lost grip on it resulting in it to fall on the floor.
With a shocked face, he picked up his cell phone and read the message once more to double check it. As if on a cue, his assistant went to his room to call him.
“Felix, please prepare the car. We need to go somewhere else,” Adrian commanded his assistant with trembling hands.
“But, it’s time to go to the church for your wedding, sir. We might be late if we go somewhere else first,” Felix answered with a worried tone.
“We will go somewhere more important than my wedding. So, let’s just go there and do your job, understand?” Adrian said with a gritted tooth and Felix has no choice but to obey him.
They went to an abandoned warehouse and they have been searching around the area but there is no one there besides the both of them.
“Sir, I think that message is just a scam. Obviously, there is no one here. Maybe they just want to distract you on your wedding day,” Felix told his boss while he was already sweating.
“I don’t care! Just look around the place and find my wife! Can you hear that?” Adrian furiously answered.
Felix just shook his head and tried to console his boss.
“I’m so sorry for being blunt, sir. But I think you need to move on and just accept the fact that you will be starting a new beginning with your second future wife.”
“We need to go to the church now before your parents will worry too much.” Adrian just clenched his fist and took a deep breath.
MEANWHILE AT THE CHURCH
Everyone is already panicking because Adrian is still not in the church, which is why they can’t start the wedding.
“Bestie, why is your face like that? Aren’t you worried that your groom is not yet here for your wedding?” Celestine’s best friend and also her bridesmaid asked her with a worried face.
“I don’t care about that, Aira. Actually, I pray that he won’t come here anymore so that no marriage will happen today,” Celestine blatantly answered and she is just being honest to her best friend.
“Why are you saying that? I know that it’s not your will to marry that guy but you are already here and you don’t have a choice.”
“Can you just smile for us? You should be pretty on your wedding day but look at your wrinkled face right now,” Aira complained but Celestine just rolled her eyes at her.
“How can I smile and be pretty on my wedding day if I am going to marry a devil? That guy is the worst and I hate him a lot. Most of all, we don’t really love each other for pete’s sake!”
Celestine is trying to hold back her emotions because she doesn’t want to create a scene inside the church.
She doesn't want to disappoint his dad and she is just doing this for the sake of their company.
"Just think that you need to do this for your company. So, just smile, bestie. Fake it until you make it," Aira consoled her best friend and gave her a smile.
"Tsk, whatever. I am still praying that he won't make it to the church today," Celestine simply responded with a crossed arms.
However, it seemed that God did not listen to her prayers because the organizer just signaled to them that the groom already arrived.
Finally, they can go back to their positions and start the wedding ceremony.
It is a very intimate wedding because only a few people are invited to attend. The family and relatives of the bride and groom are present and some of their friends inside and outside the business world have graced the wedding too.
Celestine is just walking down the aisle alongside her dad. He is smiling from ear to ear while Celestine's face can't be painted since she was just forced to get married.
Adrian on the other hand is waiting at the altar with his parents but his mind is not in the wedding but in another thing.
He is so preoccupied because he still can't forget the text message that he received earlier about his former wife.
When Celestine reached the altar, her dad gave her hand to Adrian with teary eyes.
The wedding ceremony has ended and the bride and groom are just praying for it to end right away so they can stop pretending that they are so happy to get married.
"Do you, Adrian Armani, take this woman, Celestine Lopez, to be your lawfully wedded wife, to live together in matrimony, to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, to have and to hold, from this day forward, as long as you both shall live?"
There was a long silence after that question from the priest.
Adrian is just looking at his bride with a blank face and no one can read what is running into his mind right now.
When his dad faked a couch in order to send him a message for taking longer to answer, he took a deep breath and reluctantly said the magic words.
"Yes, I do." Everyone is relieved and the wedding ceremony continues.
"Do you, Celestine Lopez, take this man, Adrian Armami, to be your lawfully wedded husband, to live together in matrimony, to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, to have and to hold, from this day forward, as long as you both shall live?"
It's Celestine's turn and she looked first at her dad before answering.
"I do, father," she simply answered and his dad just gave her an 'approve' sign.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. Adrian, you may now kiss the bride!”
The priest happily announced. Adrian just lifted up the wedding veil to see his bride's face.
He smirked and positioned his face like he was kissing her but the truth is he just whispered something to her that gave her goosebumps.
"Don't be so happy because I will make your life a living hell from now on."
Everyone clapped their hands and congratulated the newly weds couple but Celestine was just left dumbfounded in her position.
