When I pulled up at the warehouse the moon had gone into hiding and darkness was descending. I got out of the car, hauling out the two bags on the seat beside me. One was full of books and magazines I’d taken from the bookcase in the living room before I left the house that morning. They were Lindsay's, but she wouldn't miss them. The other bag held a carton of Pad Thai I picked up from the Yum Tum Asian Takeaway after disposing of the gun. I waited for my eyes to adjust to the darkness before I unlocked the padlock and opened the door. Inside, the kerosene lamp shone a pool of light onto the floor. Frida was huddled up in the sleeping bag with the rug on top. She sat up. I got a momentary shock to see her as a blonde. It looked peculiar with her dark eyebrows and made her pale complexion
