CHAPTER NINE As we raced along the motorway towards Tullamarine Airport, the city was a blur of lights flashing past us. Deja vu overwhelmed me. I'd done this before, many times. At night Carl and I often brought the girls with us on our joyrides—his girlfriend Amy and Carol. Carl would find a couple of motor bikes parked outside a pub, hot-wire them and the four of us would take off on the motorway out of the city—he and Amy on one, Carol and me on the other.
