CHAPTER FOUR
At 8 a.m.I phoned Celeste and asked her to reschedule my morning appointments. Then I went to my local camping goods store and bought a kerosene lamp, matches and a Thermos. Next stop was Kmart, where I bought Frida two pairs of long pants, a couple of shirts and some underwear. Not used to buying women's underwear, I had to take a blind guess at her bra size. I also picked up some rat poison, a pair of large scissors, blonde hair dye and shampoo, toilet paper and soap, a couple of towels, a toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste.
In the supermarket I bought a packet of muesli bars, some apples and bananas and a six pack of bottled water. On the way to the checkout I passed the stationery supplies and on impulse I threw in a sketch pad and a box of pencils. My final stop was th
