We head to the bar we visited last night. We order a round of shots when my phone starts ringing. I look at the caller ID and see Jax's number. I excuse myself to answer it. Me: Hello? Jax: You busy? Me: No. Just out having drinks and lunch with my family. Jax: Oh well, I'll talk to you--. Me: Come meet us. Jax: What? Me: Come join us. Jax: I don't want to impose. I laugh at his sincere gesture of not want to intrude on a family gather. I find it cute. Me: You're not. We're at the bar from last night. Remember the place? Jax: Yeah. Me: Then I'll see you soon. Jax: See you soon. I hang up the phone and head back to the booth. Nate looks at me with a knowing smile. Nate: Who was that? Me: Jax. He's coming to join us. If that's ok with you Ky? Kylie: Sure. I'll be fine. I won't make a scene if that's what you're thinking. Like I said I was just trying fuc--. Lyle: Lalalalalala. Enough! You guys are freaks! Kylie: What's wrong big brother? Getting no play? Lyle: I get plenty of play! Me: Nate? Me and Kylie look at Nate for proof. He downs his shot avoiding I contact. It was a tell-tell sign for if he knew the truth but wouldn't speak on it. We burst out laughing. Lyle: f**k all of you. We keep laughing at his expense. I see the door open and Jax walks in. I wave him over to the table. Lyle moves so Jax can get in the booth and sit next to me. Jax: Sup guys? Nate: Sup? Lyle: Hey. Kylie: Hey Jax. Jax shifts uncomfortable next to me. I'm guessing it's because of whatever happened between him and Kylie. I grab his hand under the table and squeeze it. Me: She's fine with you being here with me if that's worried about. Jax: Kylie, I am sorry about that night. I should've told yo--. Kylie: Say no more. I'm just finding out myself why you were so interested in her. Me: Nate, can we get another round of shots and some beers? Nate: Yeah. I'll be right back. Kylie: I'll come too. Lyle: Me three. They all get out the booth and head to the bar. Jax looks confused. Jax: I can leave if no one wants me here. Me: Your fine. They just don't know how to be subtle about things. They are giving us some time alone. Jax: Oh. So how was your day? Me: Good. You? Jax: Just working on my bike. Getting for a race coming up. Me: Look, we don't have much time. What do you want to do? Jax: About what? Me: Us? Do you want to give it a real chance this time? Jax: Yes! I mean yeah. I'd like that. Me: Then it's official. Jax: So, we're officially dating? Me: Yes. He smiles at me. I lean over and kiss him on the cheek. In a matter of second after that cheek kiss, Kylie, Nate and Lyle come back to the table. Lyle: Did we miss anything? Me: I hate you guys so much. But yes, it's official now. Family, meet my boyfriend, Jackson. Nate: About f*****g time! They all start laughing and set the drinks on table before sliding back into their seats. Lyle passes out the shots. Kylie: To our sister finding happiness! We all raise our shots and toast before downing the shots. We order some food and have a good time. Any chance Jax got he grabbed my hand under the table. Kylie: Alright loser I have to call it here. Me: What's up? Kylie: I need to go home and pack since I'm moving back in. And I have a test at school in the morning and I need to study. Me: You've had multiple shots. How the hell are you going to be able to study? Kylie: This isn't the first time. Been doing this since I started college. You think I don't go to the frat parties and get fuc-- Lyle: Lalalalala. Kylie: I was going to say get f****d up. We all start laughing. Lyle just shakes his head and starts drinking his beer. Nate: Come on. We'll take you home. They all down their beers. Nate leaves the money on the table, and they all leave, leaving just me and Jax alone again. He scoots over some and moves our connected hands to the top of the table. Jax: Sorry, I wasn't trying to offend your sister. Me: it would have been fine. She told me I deserved to be happy. And if you made me happy then to go for it. Jax: You have such a cool ass family. Kind of jealous. Me: We have our moments. I see his attention drift down to our hands. It's nice to actually talk, knowing he was sincere about getting to know each other better. I take a sip of my beer. Me: So, you said you have no siblings. Jax: No but I would have loved some. Me: I'm sorry. We don't have to be around my family if it bothers or upsets you. Jax: The complete opposite. I like the vibe around your family. My dad won't admit it, but I was a mistake. He wasn't going to stop racing to settle done and raise a family, but it was too late. My mom was already pregnant with me. So, I think the swore off kids after I was born. Me: They're not lying to you. You weren't a mistake. Jax: My girlfriend would say that. I laugh. He Looks at our hands again. Literally smiling like an i***t. Me: Are you gonna stare at our hands the whole time? Jax: Sorry. Still processing you being my girlfriend right now. Me: I can always take it back. Jax: No! I like this. I like us. You know....being together. I finish my beer. I go to add more money on top of what Nate left when Jax grabs my hand. Jax: I got it. He pulls some cash out and sets it on the table. He grabs my hand again and we get out the booth. He drives me home and walks me to the door. Me: Wanna hang out some more? Jax: I would but I have a race tomorrow. Need to stay focused. Me: Are you saying I distract you? Jax: Before, no. Now that you're my girlfriend, yes. Me: Love saying that word girlfriend, don't you? Jax: I'll never get tired of it. I Am dating the hottest and baddest f*****g female biker. I'm honestly screaming internally right now at the top of my lungs. Me: That was corny. I hope you know that. Jax: After saying it out loud, yeah. I laugh and step closer to him. He places his hands on my hips. Me: Well, I don't' want my BOYFRIEND too distracted to win his race. Goodnight Jax. Jax: Wait! He pulls me closer, His thumb making circular motions on my hips. He leans in and kisses me. I wrap my arms around his neck. After a few minutes he finally pulls back. Jax: Will you come? Me: To your race? Jax: Yeah. Me: What kind of girlfriend would I be if I didn't come to my boyfriend's race? Jax: A terrible one. Me: Exactly. I'll be there. Just let me know the time and place. Jax: I will. He kisses me one more time before hoping on his bike. He revs the engine and then takes off. Him coming by all the time on his bike is going to irritate my neighbors but for once. I didn't care since I was happy.
