It was Aly’s first time sneaking into a building by going up its fire escape, through a sketchy-looking alley, in a “bad” neighborhood; but then again, those past few weeks, she had done a lot of crazy things she never thought she’d ever do. “What is this place?” Aly whispered after they had entered through a window in the hallway of the fourth floor. Danny stopped in front of a door. “It’s an apartment building,” he answered, letting go of her wrist as he fished for something in his bag. Aly leaned in behind him and asked, “Are you sure there’s no one inside?” A corner of Danny’s lips turned up. “I’m sure,” he said with a wink.
