I turned to where the sound had come from, only to see LeAlexende’s surprised eyes meeting mine. Blood dripped from his head and chest from where he had been impaled and he smiled slightly as our eyes met. The silver on the claws glistened as they moved and ripped through him, spraying his black blood onto the nearby plants. Kisca caught his body as it fell backwards, quickly scrambling away from LeAlexende’s attacker. My own chest exploded with Lucius’ pain and I glared at the one who had done the deed, the lich stepping out of the underbrush proudly.
