The House

Chapter 1: The Plan

The last day of school flew by for Jenny. She normally rose the bus home, but decided today she would walk home. As she was walking she happened upon the old Claiborne place. She had seen it dozens of times, but still never got used to how it made her feel. It felt as if it was watching her.

There was a brown door in the front, two windows on either side, and a brown roof on top. It looked ordinary, but that was only to thsoe who might see pictures of it. When you’re in front of it, it’s completely different.

Jenny suddenly found an adventurous side of herself, and wanted to explore the house. As she started walking again, she thought about what her friends would think about exploring the house. Ross would make a joke and give, Carrie wasn’t the brightest and wouldn’t care. But Eddie was the problem. He wouldn’t be too happy that they would explore an Avon domed and potentially haunted house.

When she got home, Jenny called Ross, Carrie, and Eddie and told them to come over. Ross came first, so she told him about her plan.

“I’m supposed to be making the jokes!” he said laughing. When he realized she was serious, he sighed and agreed.

Then came Carrie, who forgot altogether about the house, and then Eddie.

“Eddie, we have a surprise for you!” Jenny exclaimed.

“Where is it?” he asked.

“Well you’ll have to blindfold you. We have to walk you there.” Ross replied.

Eddie agreed and Carrie blindfolded him. They were on their way to the Caliborne place in two minutes. What they would see would leave a scar for the rest of their lives.
