CHAPTER ELEVEN - NOT AGAIN!!!

1336 Words
SOPHIE'S POV Cullen's rejection damaged my last self esteem. I didn't have high expectations of him kissing me back. But he rejecting me directly hit a spot. Where I got the courage from was still a mystery to me. After Johnny drove me home in my car, I stole a bottle of sherry from my Dad's wine cellar and went up to my room. I was glad my mom wasn't in the sitting room when I came in. I didn't have to answer tons of questions about why I didn't even stay up to an hour for a party I hosted. I chatted Annabelle up, fortunately she was still around. I told her to dismiss others because the party wasn't going to carry on. "You sure about it? You know you can come out and show them who is boss." The joy I felt equalled the embarrassment I faced earlier. At least, I still had someone to call a friend despite everything. "Don't worry just wrap things up." There was no need to carry on with a failed party. "Do you want me to come over?" "Nahh.... I'm good." "You sure?" "I'm alright seriously." "Ok..if you insist." "Thank you for everything dear." She opened the message but didn't reply. I popped open the wine and drank directly from the bottle. The saline flavour left a slightly remarkable taste on my buds as it burned down my throat. I helped myself to a plate of meat ball that I took from the fridge. "Hey girl, hope you're good." Johnny's text message came in. I ignored his message and turned my phone off. If only he knew my ruined mood this night was mainly from his brother's brutal rejection. But I couldn't tell him that. *** It's been a week since I came downstairs for breakfast or dinner. I requested that my meals be brought to my room. It was a surprise my mom didn't check up on me or come up with a reason to make me leave my room. "Hey girl. You finally decided to see another world besides your room?" She asked as my dad peeled lobsters for her. "Good morning mom. Good morning dad." "Morning." My dad was busy with peeling lobsters for my mom. Aren't they old for this? "I've discussed with your dad and we have come to a conclusion that rather than for you to just sit at home and do nothing, you're going to start work." I didn't want to start working anytime soon as it was an idea that Donald had brought up. And mainly because I didn't want to cross parts with him while working. The business world isn't that large after all. Business individuals cross paths most times. I gave my mom's idea a second thought tho as I really needed to keep my self busy. At most I'll try my best not to cross paths with him. I was getting bored with just staying in my room and doing nothing. Annabelle had started working and is almost never free and I haven't contacted Johnny since the party and he hasn't contacted me either. I helped myself with three lobster rolls and a plate of chicken sauce. I prefer dipping my rolls in sauce than eating it like that. The urge to take a few steaks was great but then I have decided to start watching what I eat if at all I want to slim down. "What do you say dear?" My mom's voice brought me back to what we were discussing. "I'll start next week." I licked the upper part of my lip to remove the smudge of sauce. She cleared her throat. "Actually... we were thinking you would start tomorrow." "Don't I have to be prepared or something like that?" "Emmmmm..... There's enough time for you to prepare today. I can escort you to shop you know." She smiled. Urghhhhh.... not again!!! I knew she wanted something out of me starting work so early. The amount of adrenaline rush that runs through her blood when she thinks of shopping is extremely hard to comprehend. She goes hours of shopping without getting tired. Well, I think her luck stands on the part that she got married to a generous rich man. "It's no problem if you don't want to start tomorrow." My dad said. "I thought we already discussed this dear." My mom gave him her cute puppy eye. When is this woman going to start acting matured. I shook my head at her and took a bite of my lobster roll. "Don't let your eyes fall off mom. I'll start preparing today and whenever I'm ready I'll start work. Is that okay?" "It's not like I'm doing this for myself...I'm just doing it for your own good so don't sound like you're doing me a favour. I didn't want to expose her lie so I didn't say anything. This would be one of her plans to extort money from my dad and spoil herself. "I'll be on my way to work hon." My dad pecked her cheek as he stood up from his seat. "I'll see you out." She picked his office bag from the seat and they both left the dinning room. I ate up my last lobster roll and grabbed a yogurt from the fridge. I literally ran up stairs when I heard my mom's footsteps approaching. I wasn't ready to go shopping. It amazes me how much she loves shopping and never gets tired of it. It's like she never shops enough. I can't wait for her pregnancy to kick in fully. Atleast I know my dad would restrict her running around. I was about to to enter my room when I heard her scream my name. There was no bailing out once she made up her mind for something especially when it's shopping. Thinking of it now shopping is mostly likely her only hobby. "You have less than an hour to get ready." I could hear her footsteps getting louder as she stomped upstairs. I tiptoed into the room and closed the door behind me pretending not to hear her. My back was yet to touch my soft and fluffy bed when she pushed my door open. "Don't try to sly your way out girl. You're going out with me today come what may." She said and banged the door shut. The most dramatic mother I have ever come across. Well, her and her group of friends. After a while of just lying down on my bed and staring at the ceiling, I dragged my lazy self to the bathroom and took a shower. I dried my hair and packed it into a ponytail with two fringes hanging in front. I opened my closet and was contemplating on what to wear. One of the disadvantages of having too much clothes. You end up getting too many choices. After a while, I settled for a white crop top and a black cargo pants together with a jacket. I put on my black nike shoes and went downstairs after checking my self out. I had a feeling that I wasn't completely dressed but I couldn't place a finger on what was missing. I browsed through my phone as I waited for my mom. She always took the most time in getting ready for anything. After waiting for what seemed like enternity, she finally emerged at the top of the stairs. She was dressed lightly but not so lightly with her full makeup and her big handbag I trust would be filled with nothing. Dung. A bell rang in my head. Yeah...that's wats missing my hand bag. I ran past her to my room. "Where are you going to again?" "I want to get something I would be quick." I got my hand bag and my almost finished yogurt I had forgotten about earlier. She was in the car waiting for me when I came downstairs. I joined her and we took off.
