CULLEN'S POV "Hey buddy can you drop me off at a friend's place for a party?" I turned to Johnny at the top of the stairs. He wasn't even completely dressed. I was going to the office to get some documents I left at the office. I checked my wrist watch and it was still early. "I'm not free. I am going to the office. You can take the driver if you're scared of driving on your own." I helped myself with a bottled soda from the fridge as I teased him. "It's on the way to your office." "Be snappy." I went through some files on my phone while waiting for him. After a while he came out dressed in a nicely fitted tux with a tie at his neck. Like damn. "I thought you said you were going for a party." "Yeah. Anything wrong?" "Is the tie necessary? It's no surprise you don't have a girlfriend yet." "It's an official party. And don't say it like you have one." "Am I dropping you off or not?" I raised an eyebrow at him. It was a threat. A girl at this point in my car would undoubtedly be a distraction. "Sorry." He said and rolled his eyes at me. "Get the tie off." I walked to him and dragged the tie off his neck. "Auch. Do you plan on murdering me?" He rubbed his neck. I ignored him and undid the first two buttons. "Yeah. You look better this way. I'm sure a girl would spare you a second glance." "If you were so capable you wouldn't have been single." "Don't underestimate me. I have the ability." I picked my keys from the table and made for the door. "Then I dare you to get one." I laughed. "You've still not grown. I'm not up to your games." "Are you accepting defeat." He laughed and hit into the car. I shook my head at him. "It's alright I'll prove you wrong." I got to the other side of the car and got in. "You have from now till next weekend." "Easy peasy. Alot of girls would kill to be with me." "With your money and all, there would obviously be girls. But let's see how long they last." We got to the party and Johnny insisted I waited for him till his friend Sophie comes to the party. He claimed it wouldn't take long so I agreed to wait with him. It wasn't much of a request at the moment. We waited for about an hour before I saw his friend walk towards us. Her expression clearly read smitten when we made eye contact. I held back my smile and continued chatting with Johnny. The thought of executing my dare with her crossed my mind but I shook it out. She wasn't all that wow... apart from her pretty face there wasn't any other thing attractive about her. She is fat and I believed she would weigh over two hundred and sixty pounds. Definitely not my type of woman. I accessed her briefly as she walked towards us. She wore a long satin gown with a little exposure at her shoulders. The slit from her ankle to her thigh exposed a fair amount of skin. Though she was fat, she had fine and smooth skin. "Hey Cullen." I nodded my head at her and turned to leave. I still had to go to the office. "Later it is." I said to Johnny. "How is it that you girls never get to meet up with time for any party." I heard Jonny say as I entered the car. "Be my date." I heard Sophie say. I thought she was talking to Johnny but then I felt her eyes on me. I looked up and saw her but her lip with her head lowered her head. Was she alright? I wanted to decline but her eyes held a lot of plea and I didn't want to hurt her ego considering she was Johnny's friend. Besides I could rub it on Johnny's face later. "My time is limited." I locked my car and walked to her. She just stood and stared at me. I guess she didn't expect me to accept her invitation. "Are you going in or are you going to spend the night staring at me?" I tucked her hand in my arm and we walked together into the hall. She led me to a table and I could only hope for time to fly by as I brought out my phone. I didn't have plans of staying to the end. I still have to go to the office. There were a lot of eyes on me. Mostly stares from girls. Not something I am not used to. "Hey girl." A guy I assumed was her friend sat at our table. He made to peck her and she drew back. "My man here wouldn't want that." I smiled to myself. Where she got her courage from was unknown. I didn't pay attention to them and continued browsing through some files in my phone. "What do you mean by that? Wait have you been cheating on me?" The guy said. "Shouldn't I be asking you that?" Sophie retorted. The kept exchanging words and from what I understood, the guy was her ex and he cheated on her with her best friend. Well.... that is cruel. Another girl I assume is her best friend joined the scene and they said alot of things that wasn't nice. I wonder how she kept up with this amount of sickly and didn't notice their true colors. Halfway through their drama, I saw Johnny arrive with a slim blonde. She was okay in terms of beauty and the cloth she worked accentuated her curves. The mood wasn't right but I had the urge to wink at Johnny. If I didn't attend this party I wouldn't have made such discovery. Johnny had a girl. I assumed how unfortunate she would be. She slapped Sophie's best friend and I pooped an accolade in my head for her. I could hear Sophie's rapid breathing beside me. I glanced at her and she looked so broken. For a fleeting moment I felt for her. I held her hand beneath the table and squeezed it. She needed to calm down. "Cullen." She sobbed and held my hand tight. "It's okay." I whispered. "That's enough." I hit the table and stood up. I noticed her ex's eye widen in surprise. It wasn't just him that was surprised. I didn't expect my self to speak up on her behalf. "Know your limit." I stared intently at him and helped her up. "I wouldn't want you around what is mine." Since she already started the play, there was no harm in taking over. We went outside and I lead her to my car. There was nothing I could do at this moment so I watched her cry. She didn't look bad. Her puffy face kind of looked cute. "Hey stop staring at me." She bent her face and tried to hide her face from me. I chuckled. She didn't seem that bad. "Are you done crying?" "Is that your best way of consoling someone?" "You got a shitty boyfriend for yourself why should I console you when you get your heart broken?" She punched me playfully in my gut. "Don't insult me." "I've got to be on my way. I still have something to do." She didn't react and was staring at me. It took me three seconds to realize she was staring at my lips instead. I brought out my phone in an attempt to call Johnny. She needed to get going. I made to open the door when I felt her drag my arm back and next thing she was kissing me. Her lips felt soft on mine but there was no time to think about her lips. I instinctively pushed her away and stepped out of the car. I called Johnny and he escorted her back to her house. I have played the role of her saviour enough for the day.
