CHAPTER EIGHT - SHOPPING.

JOHNNY'S POV I was in the middle of a game with Cullen when Sophie called. I ignored the first call and she called again. I received the call and put the phone on loud speaker. "Hey Johnny." She said as I picked the call. "Yeah Sophie. What's up. I am in the middle of a game can you call back later?" "Not like you'll win the game... so don't rush me. Come over and I'll help you with your game and you'll help me with party preparations in return." I was too focused on my game to look for a comeback so I let her insult slide. "Not like I can't win my game on my own but I'll come over when I am done with this game." I cut the call and threw my phone to the side. My brother already got an advantage over me with all the distraction Sophie caused and he scored another goal making it six-one. I gritted my teeth and quit the game. It was going to come to an end in five minutes and it would be a shame if I got another goal from him. He requested we play again and I declined. I wondered how he got the chance to play games in his office. If words of this gets out, I wonder what netizens reaction would be. I took a quick bath and dressed up casually. It was quite sunny so I decided to go with a white sleeveless biscer and black joggers with black shoes. It was a smooth and short ride to Sophie's place. Our part of the city was where most rich people reside as the area was quiet and serene with top security. So it was no surprise to me when I found out yesterday that Sophie lived on the same area as I did. I got to Sophie's house and had little problem with passing through security check. Apparently the security men on duty when I came by yesterday were off duty. I was going to call Sophie when one of the security men on guard from the day before saw me and recognized me and that was how I got my pass. I handed my keys over to the valet since there was the possibility I would stay at Sophie's for quite a while. "You didn't tell the security men I was coming?" I lashed out at Sophie as I entered the sitting room. "If it wasn't for...." My sentence got stuck in my throat when my eyes met Annabelle's. What in God's name was she doing here. And Sophie didn't mention she was going to be here. Annabelle whispered something to Sophie. 'Today was going to be another chaotic day.' I thought. "If y'all are ready let's head out." "What?" I asked fully lost and confused about everything. I thought we were going to make arrangements for the party and first I unexpectedly met Annabelle here. And now we're going out. I looked up and saw Sophie's Mom descending the stairs. Her dressing screamed top notch. Her youth and elegance shining brightly as she graced the stairs. "We're going shopping. Not my idea you should know." Sophie said and headed out. I turned and quickly followed behind her. "You should have atleast given me heads up." I said when we left the sitting room. "Would you have come?" She chuckled and walked to a Range Rover LWB the valet just brought out. Well I wouldn't have come or I would have thought about coming but the probability of coming would have been low. I didn't want to go shopping but with how Sophie's mom is, there is no chance of backing out on shopping. We rode with Sophie's mom, Sophie and Annabelle at the back. I couldn't join them at the back and be the only man there so I joined the driver at the front. While the chatted about random things that revolved about women's gossip, I rested my head on the head rest and connected my airpods to my phone. I listened to music with my eyes close and my thoughts moving back and forth in different directions. 'Ding dong's the vibration of my phone brought me out of my day dream. "Let's play another round." Atimes I wonder how my brother carries out his work so efficiently and timely. This was the third time today he was inviting me to a game. I chatted Sophie up and asked her if she was still willing to play on my behalf and she readily agreed. I logged in to the game and gave her my phone. "You're part of the people encouraging her to game." Sophie's mom said from the back. I shook my head in negation even hoping she understood I didn't really have an influence on Sophie. "I had told your dad not to involve you in gaming and now see how you've turned out." She continued her complaints. "Gaming isn't that bad mom." Sophie returned my phone to me before we got to the shopping mall. She had played three games with my brother and he won the three games but with little points difference. "How did you get so good all of a sudden." Cullen's message read. "My hidden talent." "It's been long I played a game this challenging. And I know it's not you I just played with." "Believe what you want." "Let's play again." He texted back as we arrived at the shopping mall. "Let's play later. I am busy. Find something resourceful to do." "You live off my money. So if there is anyone to find something resourceful you know it's you." I turned my phone off and followed others to into the mall. He just had to rub his money in my face. Sophie's mom insisted we all got something for the party. It didn't take long to get something for myself. I was okay with anything but they made me try four different colors and styles of tuxs before the finally settled for a black fitted one. I didn't feel comfortable having Anabelle check me out. More like I was shy but Sophie's mom didn't give me a chance to back out. After we got the tux, they accompanied me to get my shoes and a tie after which we moved to the women section. I knew they were going to take up time selecting their dresses but I didn't expect them to take this long. They walked from store to store to find the best outfit. Sophie was kind of accepting almost everything she saw but Annabelle and Sophie's mom were on another level. It was hard to see what suited their taste and when we finally found, there was a problem with the clothes. Either it was too big or too small. I excused myself and went to the car to wait for them. As if Cullen knew I was free, he sent a game request. And I accepted it to pass time. We played one round and he won me hands down and with a clean sheet. It was like I didn't even make an attempt at the game. His possession, shots on target and game control was to embarrassing for me to think of. As if he took his all on me in the game. "Got you." He texted. "? ? ?" What's wrong with this guy. "You didn't play the first three games yourself. The skills and control are so different." "So this was what you had in mind while playing? I am busy. I am going off" "Atleast link me up to the player. Anonymously though. So I can get to enjoy my games." "No. You aren't getting any link up from me." "So I get to play with newbies all day?" Narcissist.
