4: Dev… Von

1200 Words
Harriet~ No one talks about how weird your home town feels after not being there in a long while. The cashier is a woman I used to know but she looks older and more tired now and she keeps looking at me weirdly. The first grocery shop doesn’t have everything I need so I head to a second one. This grocery shop is much newer with more friendly faces. The attendants are super nice and friendly it takes me less than ten minutes to finish shopping and queue up at the counter. “Thank you,” a familiar voice says and my bones chill. How the f**k would I forget the voice that talked me through it. “Von?” He spins around and smiles. what am amazing coincidence. “Hey darling…” he turns to the cashier. “I’d pay for her shit.” Oh my f*****g goodness, he is so sweet. She attends to ‘my s**t’ and he pays and we leave together for his car. He opens the trunk and I deposit my stuff and he also gets the door for me. “Never thought I’d see you in broad-day light.” I tell him when he gets into the car. “Me neither, well after yesterday, the least I can do is convert myself into your chauffeur each time I see you.” “Oh.” “I mean it as an apology, you know.” “Oh.” He doesn’t even know my name yet, I want to assume he doesn’t ever want to know it either. He never asked and I never gave. “So where are you headed?” I tell him. “Crazy how I'm headed in that same direction. You stay around there?” “Not really, I'm only back for Christmas.” He nods keeping his gaze on the road. I see a small smile on his lips. “Your parents are eager to have you home?” I chuckle and sigh looking out of the window. “I wish, they aren’t even around for Christmas. It’s so sad.” “Yeah, I know how that feels. I’ve barely had my family around as well, though the fault is all mine.” I try to tease him out of the sad mood he seemed to have fallen into. “So you wanna tell me last night wasn’t the only time you’ve been a bad boy?” He chuckles and shakes his head. “So which of those houses are yours?” He asks when we are at the street. “The grey one with a broken fence…” I say and the atmosphere changes. His fingers tighten on the wheel and his jaw ticks. “Von?” I try hoping to understand what hurt him immediately but he doesn’t respond and just drives to the house. He gets down before me and starts walking to the door. “Von?” He doesn’t answer me and stands in front of the door, and digs his pocket, he brings out a key and inserts it. “Von?” Im super confused as I get out and walk towards the house. The door unlocks and he pushes the door open. “Dev? Devon?” “Yes Harriet, it’s Devon. Please get into the house, I’d get the bags,” he says walking past me back to the car. I stand there frozen in time. Von is Devon? f**k. I lost my virginity to my… Devon opens the trunk of his car and takes out the grocery bags and walks back towards the house. “Come in Harriet, you must be tired and hungry from your journey, I need to make you something to eat,” he walks past where I stand rooted. He goes to the car and get the last bags and when he comes towards me and grabs my arm. “Come on in Harriet, I’d make us something to eat and then we can retire for the night.” Oh how quickly he can switch from a one night stand to an older brother in the twinkling of an eye. He pretends to not recognize that I am perplexed and still in denial over every thing that has happened in the last twenty four hours as he drags me to the kitchen and sits me down. He gets busy putting things in their place and eventually starts to make us dinner of beef sauce and boil Irish potatoes while I sit and contemplate my life. Earlier today, I was hoping to experience what I did last night sometime in the future, earlier when I saw him I hoped he’d ask for my name and suggest a Christmas fling, I am still hung up on his d**k and somehow he is being really calm about it. He knows how I taste, how I feel. He has seen me naked, been inside me… “DEVON.” He jerks away from the chopping board in surprise. “What is the matter Harriet?” He asks so calmly that it upsets me. “Are we seriously not going to address the elephant in the room?” I ask when he goes back to chopping vegetables away. “Harriet, we should focus on the hunger both of us are facing. You shouldn’t be moving about like that, next time you want to go out? You call me, I’d drop you off and pick you up.” My mouth slacked. Was he seriously pretending to not understand me? “Devon, we had s*x last night.” Silence. “Harriet…” “If what’s about to come out of your mouth is not how we can move past you pounding me yesterday then please shut up.” Oh God, what a disaster. My parents were going to have an epileptic attack should they find out and I needed to be more irritated with myself about the whole thing instead of craving Von of last night. “Harriet, I apologize for last night. It’s in the past, I’m sorry that ever happened. I understand that you must feel disgusted with yourself and with me but we can’t erase yesterday. Let’s try to ignore it,” his tone is pleading and is filled with regret that makes my anger burn brighter. Did he regret the s*x? Was I bad? Oh my God, was I bad and was that why he never wanted to know my name? Oh my f*****g God. “Was it that bad?” “Harriet, no it wasn’t. Your p***y is actually exquisite, I regret not taking the time to eat it yesterday.” My stupid v****a clenches around nothing. My face fills up with blood and I turn my face away embarrassed. Hearing Von talk about me in that way felt very otherworldly. “Harriet. Look we are never having s*x again so you can calm down, plus we have a lot of other things to talk about that you should be more bothered about.” He resumes chopping away on the chopping board. Yeah right. He wants me to forget it all after painting a mental picture of him eating me out .
