Chapter 13 Lilas POV

I was still angry after the tour was over and decided that working out was my best option to blow off some steam. Going to the FIT on campus, I worked out till closing. Running back to the dorm, I stopped by the calf and got dinner, and continued to walk back to my dorm. Of course, word had already spread about what happened and whispers were following me everywhere I went. By the time I was done eating dinner and filling out my intern application, it was 10:30. I heard a knock on the door and sniffed the air. Thanks to my strong nose, I could smell it was Kate. Not wanting to talk to her, I froze, not making a sound, hoping she would think I was asleep. After a couple of minutes, she walked away and I heard her door shut and click, so I knew it was locked. Waiting another 15 minutes before leaving my room, I decided to take a shower. I shaved before washing my hair and body. Happy with my shower, I got out and dried off. Rapping my t-shirt over my hair and looked at the clock, it was nearly midnight. I lay down thinking of Maddox and how nice he was and how when he touched my hand I felt butterflies in my stomach. Falling asleep, I opened my eyes and I looked at my body and, instead of seeing the dark gray wolf, I was the wolf. But this wolf was different. I got the same vibe from him as I did from Maddox. When I hear a voice in my head that says Who are you and what did you do with my human? Who said that? I asked freaked out. Hi, my name is Danial. What are you doing in my human head, Lila? Even more, I freaked out. I started running. Smells were so much stronger in this way. It was easy for me to smell the city and head towards it trying to find my body or try and wake up from this dream. Danial in my head started screaming, what are you doing? We can't go to the city like this, we'll be spotted. Not listening to him, I ran even faster. A part of me thought this felt right. Like I’ve been missing this my whole life and I’m just now realizing it. Before I knew it, I broke through the trees in the square behind the library. I turned to head toward the dorms when I saw a man that smelled similar to Maddox. Before I could blink the man turned into a wolf in the blink of an eye. This wolf was the color of clean white sand. s**t, he’s going to attack. Do you know how to fight? Danial says in my head. What! I exclaimed in fear, I mean I was a cheerleader and that's kinda dangerous. Ok, he says do what I say as fast as you can. Ok, I say with some confidence. Doge left and rake your claws down his side. I jump to the left and barely scrape the wolf's side. Hey, are you trying to get us killed? You're going to have to mean it, kid. Ok, I say still not wanting to hurt him. Duck he yells. I look up at the sky expecting to see the animal above us, instead, I get tackled to the ground and feel the pressure of him on top of me while fight or flight kicks in. I took my hind claws on his belly, feeling blood gush out of the wounds, and hearing him wimping, I was able to push him off me and stand up. Ok next, we are going to bite his neck, not enough to kill him but to get his attention and know we are better than he is. Ok I say way more confident I sit down on my hind legs and look at him c*****g my head sideways. He shoots me a confused expression and I can feel Danials as well. Just wait. I tell him he stays silent as the wolf slowly moves towards me. I pretended not to pay attention to him and chased a grasshopper. Already in a pouncing position, I am able to leap over the grasshopper and on him, rapping my teeth around his neck. The smell of his fear was so strong I could taste it. That scared me. Suddenly realized I had almost killed him. With my fear came that itching and burning again. As soon as it came, it was gone and I woke up in my dorm screaming with June shaking me awake.
