Chapter Fourteen
“It’s Geraldine sir…and a few—
“Please don’t tell me she—
“She absolutely did sir.”
Alex closed his eyes for a moment, taking in a deep breath before he went into a fit of explosive rage. It was Geraldine doing what she does best when she wanted to get under his skin, Olivia just had to be erratic and fall into the clutches of his grandmother.
He rubbed his temple, the day was a long one and now his night was about to be worse. Geraldine’s sudden visit only meant one thing—she’d told everyone in the family about his new wife, and now they were here to meet Olivia.
“Tell Sheila we’re going to have a full house tonight.”
*********
“Master Maldov wants you to get dressed,” Cillian announced at the doorway just as Olivia was starting to go through her new clothes, “We have guests tonight.”
“Guests??” Olivia’s ears tinged at the mention of them having guests, nervousness started to peak its way through her veins, “Wh—what guests?”
“Your in-laws.” He responded and walked away.
Olivia froze in place. In-laws?!! She’d only been married for two days and now she was meeting her in-laws?!, “f**k!!” She cussed out loud.
She quickly scrambled for a means to get out of going downstairs, the windows were all locked tightly shut, courtesy of her husband who didn’t want her fleeing out of his grasp again. This was a disaster, she thought as she started to pace back and forth, clearly at a loss for what to do.
She couldn’t meet them now, not when she barely knew anything about them. She was terrified, of Alex and everything that had to do with him, now she had to host his mafia affiliated family?? She wanted to puke.
“Olivia.” Speak of the devil, Alex strode into the room already dressed. He glanced around, paused for a moment. Olivia could see he wasn’t happy. She pressed her lips tightly, wondering if he was probably going to kill her. Her silence made him frown then he let out a sigh.
“ What do you want?” She asked trying to come off as macho her voice however, instead only let out a soft squeak. Not paying her question any heed, he brushed past her and towards the pile of clothes at the edge of the bed, then he picked out the black dress, and a devilish smirk at the corner of his lips appeared.
Olivia gulped hard. He was unpredictable as he was tenacious, and that scared her deeply. She nipped her bottom lip, waiting for some words to come out of his mouth. He said nothing and then handed her the dress.
“Get dressed.” His tone curt, “My family is waiting for you downstairs.
She gasped loudly not wanting to meet his mafia affiliated family and tugged at the hem of his shirts Alex was tired, but her sudden gesture sparked something inside of him. It was the first time she touched him by her own volition.
“don’t do that.” He muttered.
She frowned deeply, and then took a step back stuttering loudly “ I’m sorry I…
“No,” his voice, defiant, “Touching me like that would only end up with you one way, and me on top.”
Olivia felt a knot in her stomach, something about his sultry words made her sick, “You are disgusting and I wish I never met you. You f*****g monster.” She cussed at him.
Alex laughed in the peckish manner which made her cheeks flush, his voice carried a whole new baritone when amused. She was so hot when she was angry and unbeknownst to her, it only made him want more. “Get dressed Olivia. I’ll be back in 20 minutes. You wanted to run away and you fell into the arms of my grandmother, now you have to pay for it.”
His words drove a swivel of fear inside her, she asked as he neared the door for an exit, “ pay for it? Pay for it how?” She asked, her voice shaking as the thought of impending doom crawled up her sleeve.
Alex saw the concern in her eyes, for a moment, he regretted invoking a dose of fear in her, but it was the truth. She was going to pay for it by meeting his ever despicable grandmother, and the rest of his no good family, even though he tried to protect her, her mistake and hunger to get away from him drove her right into their clutches.
“ Get dressed, Olivia.” He said, his voice carried a hint of tiredness. For a moment, Olivia felt bad. It irked her deeply, feeling some sort of remorse for the man who ruined her life and was about to do it even more. She shook off this uncanny feeling immediately, wanting to bathe herself to get rid of the disgust she felt.
Alex left the room and Olivia picked up the black dress he chose, she scowled deeply, wondering if this was sort of a game as the dress was graced with a plunging neckline and tie high slits. She made a vow to herself that she would rather die than wear such a risqué dress, in front of other people. She was no Mary, mother of Jesus Christ but she also had her dignity.
After a moment of searching, she settled for a simple black blouse and a long silk skirt which had a beautiful pattern inscribed on it. She was tempted to look ugly, just as she was during her wedding, but her husband had already threaten her. She was stupid to try to run away once, making a mess of herself in front of a mafia family could end up with her life being taken.
She strode towards the mirror, staring at the reflection for a moment, she wasn’t satisfied with what she saw. Her eyes were puffy like concealed duffel bags underneath, her lips were plump and not in a good way, almost swollen from all the crying earlier. Her hair was still disheveled and in need of a trim. She let out to sigh and started brushing. Then she dubbed on a little bit of make up, with a moment taken to ponder over how Alex managed to get everything… twenty minutes later, she was ready.
As if on cue, Alex returned to the room, his previous grievances whiffed off the moment his eyes laid on his beautiful wife. Right here and then he knew he made the best decision to make her his.. and it joyed him even more knowing she was his alone, and for no other man.
“Breathtaking..” his voice drawled as he inched closer. Olivia felt a lump in her throat, he smelled different stronger, his presence was unnerving.
Alex watch her pull back, a tad bit disappointed, knowing what was to come. Pulling the silk skirts down her legs was his salivating thought. it was too bad. She looked too good for such an ominous occasion.
“Let’s go Olivia,” he said linking his arms around her, she tried to free herself from his grasp but he wouldn’t budge so she resigned to her fate. It was now or nothing.
