**Chapter 3: Lost and Found**

611 Words
Lexia Greene paced frantically around her stylish living room, her anxiety evident in every step. The grandeur of her home seemed to mock her current distress. She had tried calling Yiwen multiple times over the past two hours, but each attempt met with the same discouraging response: "switched off." Lexia’s concern was palpable; Yiwen had been in a fragile state since discovering her fiancé’s betrayal just two days earlier. The betrayal had not only shattered Yiwen’s trust but also left her emotionally adrift. Despite Lexia’s growing worry, she felt helpless as her calls continued to fail. Frustration surged through her, causing her to curse aloud, the sound echoing in her empty house. **Meanwhile** Yiwen trudged out of Rooven Hospital, each step heavy with frustration and despair. The cold air nipped at her as she walked down the deserted street, having left her car behind in her agitation. The road was eerily silent, the stillness amplifying her isolation. Her eyes brimmed with tears as she reflected on her drastic fall from grace. Once the envy of A-list actors and actresses, Yiwen’s life had unraveled in a whirlwind of personal and familial betrayals. Her downfall began when her mother discovered her father’s infidelity—an affair with Yiwen’s best friend that resulted in a child a year older than Yiwen. The revelation not only destroyed the family’s unity but led to the addition of her father’s new family into their home, bringing with them a tide of trouble. Lost in thought, Yiwen was jolted from her reverie by the sound of a car approaching. Her gaze was drawn to a sleek Hyundai Ioniq 5, a car she recognized as one of the finest in the world. The vehicle came to a smooth stop, and a man dressed in a sharp Oxford shirt and slim-fit black jeans stepped out. He exuded an air of casual elegance, but his presence was an unexpected disruption to her already tumultuous night. "Good day, ma'am," the man greeted with a polite nod. Yiwen’s face remained impassive as she scanned him with wary eyes. "Sorry, but I don’t take rides from strangers," she replied curtly, attempting to walk away. "Drive you home? Hardly," he said with a hint of sarcasm, leaving Yiwen momentarily perplexed. “Then what do you want?” Yiwen managed to ask, her patience wearing thin. "I’m actually quite hungry and need directions to the nearest restaurant," the man said, his tone surprisingly casual despite the lateness of the hour. Yiwen regarded him for a moment, then glanced at the luxurious car parked behind him. “Go down to the main road and turn left. You’ll find a restaurant just before the car park,” she instructed, gesturing with her hand. "Thanks," he replied with a slight bow. He turned and headed back to his car, where three or four people waited inside. As the vehicle drove off, Yiwen exhaled deeply, feeling a mix of relief and irritation. Determined to find solace, Yiwen made her way to a nearby pharmacy. She purchased an insomnia medication, hoping it would help her sleep despite the chaos in her life. The short walk to her home was filled with heavy thoughts, and she took the medication as soon as she stepped out of the pharmacy. As she made her way down the road, her mind was a whirlwind of emotions. The medication began to take effect, dulling the sharp edges of her turmoil. Her steps were slower now, weighed down by the emotional and physical exhaustion that had become her constant companions. As the city lights began to fade in the distance, Yiwen allowed herself a moment of respite.
