With the advent of the internet, of knowledge without boundaries, people tapped into the characteristic that was most beloved by others. This was a characterization that would hold great power in a relationship, no matter how brief, and in a discussion, regardless of its nature or contents. Strangers would flood a person with love and support and attention if they possessed this characteristic.
I am talking about tragedy.
People who suffer tragedies are regarded as, and treated as, and referred to as heroes. Without the fight, and the risk of death. Without the grand duel in the arena or the firefight in the suburbs to save a school, or diving into the fires to save the baby, or facing the raging seas to save a drowning victim, or fighting in the deserts and jungles to depose a tyrant.
