That was not the worst night of Michael’s life, but in a lot of ways, it certainly felt like it.
Michael was told by the police that he did not need to contact his parents since they would be in touch to explain everything. He was extremely thankful for that. The night continued to run unabated as he was taken to a hospital with Luke and set up in the same room. Soon as he was settled into a bed, exhaustion took hold at once and put him to sleep.
Michael woke up in the morning to his phone ringing. His heart jumped, getting him wide awake in seconds, thinking it was his parents.
It was actually Eleanor. Judging by the time, seven in the morning, she had just woke up to find out the news.
She was the last person he wanted to be pathetic with, so Michael watched his feelings like a hawk
