The first thing Michael did was to finally get a haircut. Additionally, he asked his father to help him make sure all his facial hair was correctly removed since it had started to grow for the first time. His mother helped him condition his hair. He put on a pair of pants and buttoned shirt he rarely even wore to church, let alone school, and a freshly bought jacket he begged for his parents to buy for him. It was dark with padded shoulders and cuff-links. He would leave it open the entire day and, if possible, never take it off.
When that Saturday finally arrived, it felt like the most important day of his life. Even so, his ended up feeling like his preparations paled when compared to the care Eleanor placed into her own appearance.
