Marcus smashed the glass onto the ground. As it fell, a dull bang sounded, ending the meal tonight. Only Lydia's sobbing could be heard in the box. She was pulled up by Marcus and kept crying with her head down. Charlotte glanced at the glass. It didn't break. But the tea flowed out into the carpet. She watched quietly and didn't withdraw her gaze until all the tea penetrated the carpet. Charlotte felt that the tea in the glass was like her last hope. It was finally gone. She didn't feel as sad as she had imagined. Instead, she felt relieved. "It's over, Marcus." Her tone was light. But everyone could hear her.
