Stella couldn't believe her eyes. She was still in doubt of what she just saw, as she was never expecting to see Gideon, her ex-husband.
Gideon on the other hand, was no longer feeling comfortable, as his mood suddenly changed the moment his eyes jammed with that of Stella's. Probably in his mind, he was busy praying that it should be a dream. Because the appearance of Stella alone could spoil everything which he has been working for, for long now.
However, as Stella gazed at him, her eyes were full of rage and regrets. She wished that she could be given the automatic power of revenge. But though, she still maintained her composure, and pretended as if she didn’t know him. This is because she wouldn’t wish to pour shame and disgrace on Armstrong’s face, before his most important management workers.
‘’Just like what I have previously told you people about, I would be introducing you all, to someone who would be your new general manager. Although as we are talking right now, she is here. And she is no other person, but my newly wedded and loving wife, Stella’’Armstrong informed, smiling.
They were all surprised, hearing that he just got himself a new wife. A good number of them who have been secretly working against him, knew that his first wife Cynthia, just divorced him.
"Wow. Congrats sir. I am really happy for you. I wish you all the best in this new journey of yours"Reuben, one of his empire's administrators, said.
"Thank you, dear"Armstrong accepted his warm regards.
The other officials who were there with them only smiled, shook their heads, and waved hands at Stella, who also did the same with them.
"We are happy to see you, Madam"They all said to her.
"Also, I am very happy to see you. Thank you everyone,"Stella replied happily.
"I just said thought that I should let you all know that she is my chosen one. The one who would be your new leader in my technology company. But meanwhile, by next Monday, she shall be officially inaugurated and mandated to serve as the new general manager of the company. In Fact, you all need to trust her leadership system, because she is tested and trusted by me. Thus, I believe that she would lead the company to a more brighter season"Armstrong informed them. Leaving Stella his new wife, to serve them with the meal she bought for them.
Later that night when Armstrong's guests must have been through with what they came for, Stella was all alone in the parlor, sitting down, while tuning the television on, watching a sope Opera. But meanwhile, her mind wasn't actually in the movie she was watching, as she was very far in thought, thinking.
Suddenly, she felt a hand wrapping her around her waist. Immediately, she knew that it was no other person, but Armstrong, her new husband.
Armstrong kissed her from behind, and even massaged her shoulder, using his lips and tongue, which he was playfully using to romance her.
"I saw the sudden mood on your face, when you saw the caliber of officials who came into this mansion today,"Armstrong said.
"Oh!. You did?"Stella asked. She didn't believe that he would be studying her face and mood.
"Yes my darling. I did. But if I may ask you, did you know any of them there?. Because it looked as if you knew some people there"He asked her.
Stella kept silent for a minute. She knew what he was saying, and not that she ever wished to hide anything from him. Just that she wanted to take things lightly and gently. Since she now hates to talk about anything related to Gideon, her ex-husband.
"He was here today,"She informed.
"I don't understand. Who was here today?"Armstrong skeptically asked.
"Him,"She said.
Armstrong, who was still confused, was patiently waiting for her to clarify her statement, for him to properly understand her.
"I saw him today. My ex-husband. He was sitting very comfortably and happy, close to the rest. But his mood immediately changed, the moment he set his eyes on me,"Stella informed. But Armstrong her new husband, still kept quiet.
"His name is Gideon, and he happened to be one of the management bodies in your technology company"She finally clarified.
"Are you really serious with these words of yours?"Armstrong asked her, after patiently listening to all that she had to say.
She nodded her head, agreeing, without saying any words.
"I see. So, I guess it was why he was keeping silent, and even feeling a little bit feverish, when he eventually saw you. Like, he was shocked that you are my new wife, and the one who would finally be the new general manager of my technology company, right?"He asked.
"Yes, you can say that again,"She replied.
The both of them were quiet for some time, before further words were resurfaced again.
"I never knew that Gideon was the ex-husband, whom you said maltreated and divorced you. Meanwhile, I don't know the gravity of the pain he must have laid on you. But I know that you are very hurt, with whatever he might have ever done to you. Although,I am a man of principle, and I know that Gideon would also have his own version of story, as to why he did all that he did against you. You as well, would also have your own version of the story.
However, like I have said, I am not biased. I am very principled. I won't want you to start telling me all the bad he did to you, because I don't want those things to start filling and tormenting your mind. But here, you must proceed with your life, and let bygones be bygones. Is that clear?"He asked, after stretching the essence of his mind to her.
"You don't need to fear. Soon, you would know the kind of woman you got married to. Meanwhile, did you say that Gideon is an executive in your company?"She asked.
"Yes, he is. In Fact, he is my assistant manager. Why do you asked?"He seek to know.
"I will fill his paths with lots of thorns,"Stella said, leaving Armstrong to go deeper in thoughts, wondering what she actually meant.
