Chapter Twenty-Five Shadow sat away from the fire and watched as Carson, Farnell and Gil discussed their plan. As Gil had promised, it had taken nearly a full day to make it to the camp the soldiers had made in the foothills. He’d joined them an hour ago, having spent the rest of his time laying a false trail for the army to follow. The sky was clear of the glow of magic, but Shadow couldn’t resist checking regularly. They couldn’t face an army that size. They’d be slaughtered. A soldier brought mugs of ale over to the fire, gave one first to Farnell and then to Carson.
