Xavier's POV. Humans beings were pathetic. I could not believe I was sat in the midst of all these pathetic people all because of f*****g Charlie. However I was enjoying it which was a surprise, everyone seemed tensed because of me, I could feel it since I came in and it had not dissipated. I liked that I made them tense, especially Asteria. However I knew why she was tensed. I knew she was attracted to me, I mean who wouldn't ? But I didn't know it was this much. I didn't like her, not even a single bit but I found her interesting. I found her wild and carefree side interesting, the way she could speak her mind without fear of whatever was going to be the response, I found her smile and laughter interesting. But I also knew that she was hurting inside. I also knew that there was something she was desperately searching for and had not found yet. The only person that wasn't tensed around me was Lara. She was a nice person, overly bold and pretty too, but she wasn't my type. No one here was actually. Asteria had not been able to keep her eyes off of me, and I haven't either but I only kept staring at her because I knew it would make her uncomfortable and the tainting of her cheeks always made me smile when our eye met each other. I could also tell that this Landon guy was interested in Asteria, he had been staring at her all through the night and was looking for every chance that Asteria would look at him. He had also being staring at me too, I guess he was threatened by me, but who the f**k cares. I didn't like his girl anyway. Charlie cared though. He cared a great deal, I would not deny that I kept them from kissing each other on purpose. It wasn't Charlie, it was me. I didn't like Asteria, far from it, but when she and Landon kept leaning in to kiss, my heart did something I didn't like. I didn't know when my hand banged on the table forcefully. Charlie groaned internally almost threatening to come out so it was good I did that. I didn't want to kiss Lara, I wanted to come up with an excuse to not kiss her but before I knew it, she had leaned in and pecked me already. I could see the hurt on Asteria's face and I didn't like it, maybe it was Charlie but I didn't like it. I smirked because Landon kept trying to figure me out, the way he looked at me when Lara and I separated was funny and I could not help the lopsided smile that came out of my mouth. However Asteria took it the wrong way, she must have thought that I enjoyed the kiss. The game continued but Asteria's mood had long gone. She was quiet now and didn't participate much, she kept zoning in and out of the conversations. " Excuse me" Asteria said as she made a bee line for the kitchen. Her best friend Mandy followed after her and I became antsy. " Hey are you listening to me?" " Sorry what?" I asked Lara. " I said where did you grow up?" She replied smiling at me. "Err..." Mandy's entrance interrupted me and I glanced back to check if Asteria followed after her but she didn't, where was she?. " I need a glass of water" I said to Lara already standing up. " Oh I'll get it for yo----" " No. Thanks, I'll get it myself" I dismissed her as I walked out. I could feel Landon's eyes on me but I paid him no mind. I got into the kitchen and dived straight to her fridge, I didn't get far when I noticed a door slightly ajar, I moved towards it, prying it open slightly and walked in. It resembled a garden of some sought. There sat Asteria, she was perched opposite a wall as she sat resting on it. Her legs were drawn to her chest, her head on her knees as she stared into space. I stood simply watching her. " Go talk to her" " No Charlie, what do I say" I whispered, or so I thought because soon Asteria's head turned to my direction. Her eyes widened as she stood up Immediately, cleaning her hands on her dress. " H--- Hi" she always stuttered when she saw me after a while. It brought a smile to my face but I swallowed it. I couldn't get her to think that I liked her cos I didn't. " I needed water and I saw the door open, I just walked in sorry" I stated. " It's fine. Have you gotten the water?" She asked quietly. " Yeah" liar. Silence ensued after as we stood, both of us looking at everywhere but at each other. " Why aren't you out there?" I asked " Just needed to clear my head is all" she replied looking at her feet. I nodded my head like she could see me and turned to leave. " Do you wanna join me?" Her question stopped me. She was always inviting me to do something with her and I wondered why. " Sure" I agreed, I don't know why I agreed, maybe it was Charlie. I walked towards her and sat beside her on the ground giving ourselves some distance. Charlie groaned happily muttering "f*****g finally" within me. I guess now he could fufill his urges like perceiving the scent of her hair that he always raved about. " Why did you change your mind? To come to the party I mean?" She asked breaking the silence. I was expecting her question, because she was bound to wonder why I eventually came after I vehemently refused yesterday. However I didn't prepare an answer. Of course I couldn't tell her that she was my mate, or the mate of the wolf within me, that just sounded ridiculous to the human ear, besides she would never find out because I wasn't going to accept her. " Just figured I'll come out of my house more" I shrugged settling for something realistic. " So how do you like it so far?" She asked after nodding her head at my answer. My gaze returned to her after being perched at the little dead flower for so long. I wanted to scream 'f*****g pathetic' but I settled for " it's being alright" She nodded again and remained silent. I didn't want to be with her any longer so I stood up to leave. " Are you leaving already?" Her tiny voice asked. She didn't have a voice so tiny when she was all up in my space yesterday. " Yeah" I answered nonchalantly dusting my palms on my trousers. " My friends will be leaving soon, do you care for some drinks" an invitation again. "No" I stated. " Oh---" she replied bowing her head lightly. " I don't drink" I clarified. " Oh" she replied her eyes widened slightly. " Okay, we could erm.. do something else" she asked. " Sure" I replied as I turned to leave. I heard little foot steps behind me and I smirked lightly. " Asterrrrr" Lara slurred. How long did we stay out that she was already drunk?. "She drunk already?" Asteria asked a groaning Mandy as she kept holding Lara from falling over. " She consumed over three bottles." Mandy complained. Landon took over from Mandy in taking his sister, his eyes fixed permanently on Asteria. This guy was whipped. I wondered if the feeling was mutual. " It better not f*****g be" Charlie growled out. "Come on Lara, time to go home" Landon replied tapping his sister gently to wake her up. " Nooooo. I wanna stay with Xaviee" she slurred again. All eyes snapped in my direction. I simply shrugged my shoulders, truthfully not giving a f**k about her. I nodded my head to Asteria biding her farewell as I walked to the door. It was quiet in the room till I left. " Don't ever force me to do s**t like that ever again" I groaned to Charlie. " Who was that Landon guy anyway? Do I need to take care of him?" I cannot believe that was what he was worried about. " No Charlie, we are not doing anything to him. He could have her---" "NO!" he growled so f*****g loudly, the whole house shook over. " f**k fine, I was just joking" I replied scrunching my face in pain as I tried to clean my ear. "Are you going over later?" " I don't have a choice now do I?" I muttered. " No. No you don't" " f*****g piece of work" I muttered. -- I had slept off before Charlie groaned within me telling me it was time to go over to Asteria's. I grumbled out telling him how I didn't want to go and just needed to sleep but of course he turned a deaf ear to me again. So here I was behind Asteria's door yet again today about to knock. However before my fisted hand collided with her door, it was pulled opened. With my hand still in the air, I whispered " Hi" " Oh hi. You came" Not by choice though. " Mhmm" I hummed placing my fisted hands down. " Come in" she whispered pulling the door in wards to let me in. I wondered what we were going to talk about, maybe I could let Charlie come to play, but no, Charlie would be too affectionate with her and I would not have that. " If you don't drink, what do you take?" She asked when I sat down. " Water is fine" I replied. With the water in my view, Asteria sat opposite me on the other end of her sofa that had being arranged back after the party. " You love having me around don't you?" I asked cutting the silence. " Mhmm. Took you long enough" bold Asteria was back. Seems she was only like this with me. " Why?" " Told you before, I like you. I want us to be friends" at this I relaxed, spreading my legs and I sat watching her. My gaze didn't waver her though, she stared at me too eyeing me up and down as I did her. The sudden tension filled the room making me want to run for the hills and at the same time stay. " Are you interested in Lara?" She asked now folding her hands together making the little opening on her top expose her cleavage a little. I moved my eyes from her chest looking at her face as I cleared my throat subtlely. " Why do you ask?" " I mean you would right? She's pretty" she stated more to herself than me. I decided to ask her the same question " Do you like Landon?" My question must have shocked her because soon her eyes widened not expecting me to ask something like that. I didn't really care if she did, but Charlie did and I needed her attention on something else that wasn't me. " Not really" " Not really?" I asked now fully interested in what she had to say. " It's complicated" " That's what you humans say when you are trying to tell a lie" I commented. " We humans?" Shit.
