Asteria's POV

I could not stop pacing around my flat, my heart beating so fast in my chest.

The party or get-together was about to start, everyone was on their way but I had not heard anything from beautiful boy. Even though I was bold in speaking with him yesterday, I was shitting bricks at the same time, a nervous wreck.

Over the years I had learnt how to mask my true emotions especially with Jude my ex boyfriend. I hated him seeing how his affections were affecting me.

I learnt it ever since I was 8 and I witnessed my parents fight for the first time. Since then, it became second nature to me. The only person that knew when I was really hiding was Mandy. And it wasn't even every time.

" Are you sure you invited him?" Mandy bee asked.

She came over earlier to help me set up everything, it was a ceremony for us towards the end of every month. Just us and our little friends from the restaurant. Her friends actually, not really mine. They just liked to surround themselves around us.

" I did Mandy bee" I huffed plunging myself on my sofa.

" Then why is he not here yet"

As if on cue, we had the door bell ring, I rushed over to it and pried it open, the smile on my face falling as I soon realized it was just our friends and not who I had been waiting for.

" Hey Sarah. Hey Claire" I greeted, pulling the door open for them.

Sarah and Claire were good people, I liked them. We were not really close but we converse alot. They had been dating for several years now and they always seemed happy with each other.

" Why do you look like you aren't happy to see us?" Claire asked. She was the bubbly one amongst the both of them, with her black hair and caramel skin. She was extremely gorgeous her eyes were the same shade as mine, green like mine, but brighter.

" Yeah doll why?" Mandy taunted behind me. I gave her a look that said "better-shut-the-f**k-up-about-this" to which she winked in response.

" Sorry I have just had a long day. I'm always happy to see you guys" I replied clapping my hands together to ease my nerves.

God I really hoped he came because I wondered how I was going to be able to concentrate especially when I was the host.

" So who else are we waiting for, I'm starving" Sarah asked. Sarah was the most quiet of our little friend group. We worked shifts at the restaurant which was how she met Claire. With her brown eyes and blonde hair, you would never know she had a crazy side to her.

" Umm--"

The doorbell rang again and I rushed to it, pulling it open and my heart sinking in my chest.

It was just Landon and Lara.

Another group of people that were regular customers at the restaurant. They were twins and were really friendly and nice, I put on a fake smile as I ushered them in. There were two people left; beautiful boy and Kyle.

Soon enough Kyle texted saying he would not be able to make it, all that was left was beautiful boy.

" So everyone is here right, can we eat?" Lara asked. Lara and Mandy were both similar, they were always at loggerheads because of how similar they were but we all liked each other. When I was with them like this which was really rare, I didn't feel that loneliness creep in.

Mandy as if knowing glanced in my direction and shook her head softly, a sad look in her face.

Beautiful boy was not coming.

I shrugged at her telling her it was fine.

It really was, he didn't owe me anything and he specifically told me he was not going to come, I was the one that thought I could change his mind.

I could not stop thinking about beautiful boy ever since we met for the first day. Not just that he beauty was alluring but he seemed really interesting to me.

I knew how my inquisitiveness had caused me trouble in the past but I could not help it. I wanted to know all that there was to know about him. Never mind the fact that I was attracted to him and he made me feel things no man had ever made me feel sexually but I really wanted us to be friends.

" Aster, Asteria"

" What? What did you say?" I asked the confused group. Every eye was on me now wondering where I went to.

Fuck. I didn't like this.

" Are you okay?" It was Landon that asked.

He was a very handsome man, before I met beautiful boy, I always thought he was extremely handsome. We had flirted alot of times but had never carried it further. He was always saying he would like to spend the night with me but I didn't pay mind to him because he was a w***e and even though I liked him as a friend and he was hot, I didn't want to be among the list of women that he would brag about sleeping with.

" Yes! Yes I'm fine. Sorry I didn't sleep early last night. What did you guys say?" I rambled, using my hands to rub my face.

" I said if you were interested in truth or dare?" Lara asked me

" Um sure, why not" I breathed out.

As we stood to round my centre table Mandy pulled me aside, away from everyone in the living room and into the kitchen.

" Are you okay?" She asked me staring intently into my eyes to read me like she knew how to.

" I'm fine Mandy bee" I breathed out.

I didn't know why I was feeling like this, we weren't even friends or acquaintances, we had spoken for a total of two times and that was it but I could not help but feel like I was betrayed.

Pathetic right!

" I'm sorry he didn't show up. He is simply a d**k head and once I get to meet him I would smack his ass" she stated quite loudly. Her threats made me laugh because even though I knew that Mandy could do it, I really doubted she would remember those threats once she laid her eyes on him. He made you forget everything you were thinking of.

" I'm sure you would Mandy bee" I agreed.

" By the way, I see the way Landon looks at you. It's by far obvious that he likes you by now doll. Why don't you guys take it further. God knows you need some action, cobwebs must have gathered down there by now"

" I'd have you know that my fingers are very much working plus have you forgotten about that dildo we got last year?" I smirked lightly at her.

" You naughty girl" she replied chuckling.

" But still if you want, it will not harm you or anyone if you actually lived your life the way you wanted doll. I don't like seeing you sad, and I know Landon has a history with women but he seemed really into you, and he is really hot you know that" she stated, rubbing my hair softly.

I was always grateful for Mandy, she had made living quite easier especially since Jude and I's breakup.

" I know Mandy bee, and I'm grateful but I'm not ready for a relationship now and you know how I get, one night stand can never be one night stand with me except you didn't f**k me well but I'm really not ready for such commitment right now" I breathed out to a smiling Mandy.

I wasn't interested in any relationship yet, Jude had scarred me and I don't want to be a nuisance to another person.

However I didn't understand this attraction I had to my neighbor; to beautiful boy. I wasn't even trying to understand it because I knew it was probably because I had never seen someone like him, maybe when we got to see regularly it would wear off.

How do you get to see when he never comes out of his house? My subconscious was a real b***h sometimes.

" Okay doll. If you need me, you have me, you know that right?"

" I do Mandy bee. Now let's get out of here before they think we are making out here, especially Lara" I teased.

" Do you want to?" Mandy asked winking at me as I turned to leave, shaking my head and smiling softly.

" What were you guys doing in there, you were sucking her p***y or something?" f*****g Lara. Of course.

" Yes I was, you want me or something?" Mandy retorted.

Both of them always had the response for each other it was amusing.

" You guys could just f**k you know that right?" Claire addressed Mandy and Lara, the whole room agreeing in unison.

" No eww, why would you say that?" Lara replied, scrunching her face like it was the most bizarre thing ever said.

" You guys are always fighting, one would think you are attracted to each other and simply wanna hide it with your constant argument" Sarah replied agreeing with her girlfriend.

" Or you are just watching too many romance novels and two people are simply arguing without any other intention" Mandy retorted bringing out her tongue to Sarah in a childish manner.

Lara shouted yes raising her hands to high five Mandy like they were best buddies again.

Weird people.

I just sat watching, a soft smile on my face as I kept glancing at the door.

I know it was too late for him to come but I still had hope that he was going to come.

" You expecting someone" my head turned in fear to the sound of the voice, my eyes meeting Landon's brown eyes, much like his sister's.

He smiled warmly at me, his smile bringing one out of me.

" f**k you scared me" I replied, my hand moving to my chest in fright.

" I didn't even creep on you or anything, you are just distracted" he teased.

" Yeah. I'm sorry" I breathed, pulling my hand down to join the other on my lap.

" So my question. You've been distant since we started, are you okay?" Landon asked. He always had a warm aura around him, one that made him really comfortable to talk to.

I could not believe he was interested in me if it wasn't for s*x, Landon never believed in relationships, that was why he always slept around. He was extremely handsome and sometimes when we spoke, I was too distracted by his beauty.

I could not help but compare though. Beautiful boy was indeed beautiful, Landon had nothing on him.

" I'm fine. Just---" my sentence was cut short by the ringing of the bell.

Everyone stilled, including me.

My heart beat increased loudly, my stomach clenching softly.

" Are we expecting someone else?" Lara asked.

Everyone was here--- except.....

Yes Lara we were expecting someone else.
