FORBIDDEN LOVE

Chapter 2

Leila could hear her brother and parents talking .

"She will build for us a nice house inMunyonyo,she will buy a Benz for each one of us ,she will take us to a vacation in Dubai "her mother Sarah said

"Mom ,you only look at her as the source of income for the family ,she will have her own family,and her own life to live "her brother Abi interrupted.

"But she is studying to become successful and get money ,the first thing to do when you get money is to help your family ,isn't it ?Her mother hesitated.

She reluctantly stood up from her bed and swayed to the living room ,where she found her brother and mother,she knelt down to greet them and she informed them that she was going out to the library because she had to read hard . She went to greet her father and then went to her room to pack her bag ,she looked at the clock and started panicking,it was getting to 9:00 am .

"You know you are a student of law ,why haven't you been reading this whole time ?"her father in the next room said .

Leila remained silent as if she had not heard him she knew he wanted her to pass highly .

Every member of their small family was very supportive of her ,her brother gave up his own studies when money at home wasn't enough to support the two of them in school.And her mother well ,a mother is a mother ,best woman in the world ,no debate about it .!

As soon as she came out of the room

, her mother asked if she wanted breakfast which she was about to decline then her mother offered to pack it for her .

"Don't worry ,I'll get a small container and put these pancakes ,you will eat them when you get there ,I will put you some milk tea in this vacuum flask ,you will drink it when it is still hot ."her mother said .

"Pack some bread and eggs too ,she needs to eat until she is full ,"her brother said

"Thank you ,but the pancakes and the milk will be enough,I have to go ."

Adu ,her father looked his only daughter in the eyes ,touched her shoulders and said "it is time to show me that paying your tuition is worth it after all ,"

Leila shying away from his stare said "okay ,dad ,I promise I won't let you down ,sir ."

Her mother handed over to her the lunch box ,pecked her cheeks and with her eyes filling with tears she said "Good bye my child!"

Her brother Abi giggled and said "stop exaggerating mum ,she is only going to the library,she will be back here in the afternoon,bye Leila,see you later "

She waved to the three them as she walked towards the door way .

She went out of the house hurriedly shoving her arms in her hand bag to reach for her phone ,she reached a place at the road side where she knows the family can't hear her ,turned on her phone and made a call .

"Hello ,Ella ,I have some news ,our school time table is out so am sorry we are not going to meet today ,I have to study may be we will meet after my exams ,please ".

Oxford Library ,15 minutes from her home was very renowned,students from different universities could come to study at it after their lectures ,and they were charged a fair price ,the former librarian was harsh so when the students complained about him the other time ,Leila hoped he was changed and she was going to find their a new person who perhaps won't give the students a hard time.

She swerved carefully from the place the roadside where the motorcycle had put her to the library,she hoped off the motorcycle to avoid falling due to the muddy road ,she had a little smirk while remembering what Ella had told her earlier on phone as she entered the library.

She reached the circulation desk and she was confused at first when she didn't seem to see anyone there but there were other students reading showing that the place is open.She looked around her until she heard a voice calling out .

"Welcome to Oxford library,how can we assist you today ?"

She looked around then she saw a fairly short man standing before her own eyes ,she looked at his name tag that had the name 'James 'on it ,"are you the new librarian "she mockingly asked .

"Yes please ,I am James ,the new librarian how may I help you ?"he replied

She looked at him up and down in a disrespectful manner .

James ,looked to be an 5'1 tall adult ,he had long neck , scanty hair and small eyes ,a wide nose and a little mustache,he was wearing a tight shirt but no signs of six packs or a broad male chest was shown only two small prominent n*****s to show their shape, he had a slightly protruding belly and stood with legs far from each other .He blinked a lot and his voice was not melodious at all ,Leila did not like it when he spoke .

Leilah looked at the cheap clothes and shoes the man before her was wearing and she thought to herself "Ella would be so angry ,even if she had one glance at him ."

"But I won't mind having a little fun with this one ,aaah short men ."she continued to think to herself.

"Get me that book ,"she pointed at the book on the highest shelf

"Okay ,madam wait here and I will get it for you ."James said as he walked to the other side of the desk.

"Hold on little sir ,do you need a ladder to step on ,or someone has to hold you up ,you clearly cannot reach the top shelf ,can you ,hahaha ,aah it will be amazing to see you try though ,aah short men "Leila said giggling

James seeming not to be bothered calmly answered "we have a library ladder madam ,I will have no trouble getting you any book that you may want to read from any shelf ."

Leila looked at him disgustingly as he climbed the ladder to get a the book ,she giggled as she saw that he had to stretch to reach the book ,he got ,blew the dust off it and came to the desk .

"Here is the book madam ",he said

Leila seemed not to be happy and said "oh sorry ,I wanted the other book ."pointing at another book in another corner .

James said with a smirk "No problem ,but you know I can fine you by charging you extra ,don't you ?"

He went to the corner to pick the book that Leila now seems to be wanting ,he said to himself in a disappointed tone "Aah unemployed campus girls ."

Leila quickly got her phone and called Ella "Hello where are you at ?"

"I am at Sam gadgets ,getting a beautiful phone case , where you at ?"

"I am at the library but .."

"But what !what's up ,is everything okay ?"

"Everything could have been okay but the new librarian is disgustingly short ,I don't even know what to do with him ."

"What ?I can't believe,a big place like that can employ a short person,you know what to do girl ,don't give him peace ."

"Here he comes I will call you back ."

"Kill him !and....."Ella was still continuing when Leila hang up and looked at James with a little giggle as he gestured to her to come at the desk .

"Your id and then register in this book please ,"James said .

Leila put out her id from the bag and held it out stretching her hand high up and gesturing to James to pick it .

"You can jump and pick it from my hand ,or you can use the library ladder ,hahaha ."Leila thought she had him .

James sat down not seeming to be bothered and said "when you put your id on the table and sign in the registration book ,I will give you the book you want ." He sat down pulled out his phone and started watching videos.

"I can see you when you are sitted stand up you short fella ."Leila said angrily.

James stretched out his hand and calmly said "Id please ."

Leila ,frustrated ,handed him the id ,registered in the book and she took it to a comfortable table where she tried to figure out a way to frustrate James ,as she opened the book ,she realized it was not by anyway connected to her course perhaps it was a book for students of medicine,she was worried,she didn't know what she had to do next .

She looked around and everyone was busy in their books , she looked up and saw that the time was moving really fast ,she remembered that she had to read ,the exams were very near ,what had she done ,James would fine her if she disturbed him again but she didn't want to say sorry ,she didn't want to be seen as a weak girl but she had to gain the courage.

"Give me another book called the "Jurisprudence "I have finished summarizing this ,stand up and serve me will you ?"

"Ooh you are a law student now ,I was worried about my health when I thought you are studying to be a doctor,phew ,"James responded with a bomb of his own.

He got the ladder and went to pick the book ,brought it on the table ,looked Leila in the eyes and told her to sign in the registration book .

"I know what am supposed to do this is not my first time to come to this library ,I was reading from here before you even got employed and can you please show some respect to me ."Leila raised her voice against him.

"Ooh ,you know this place,then you must know that we close in twenty minutes,have fun summarizing that book though ." James said as he walked around the library announcing that the library will close in twenty minutes.

Leila sat down as she noticed she has a lot to read in the shortest period of time,she didn't want to disappoint her father ,she loves him so much ,she was taken in much thoughts ,she didn't even have where to start reading from .

She stood up and walked towards the librarian's desk ,looked at him thinking to her self that disturbing him was not necessary at this point ,she has to prioritize her studies over satisfying her friends requests.

"Should I apologize to him ,no that would be stooping so low ,I have to keep my dignity,I won't apologize to a short man !"she thought to herself.

James looked at her and said "Handover the book ,for your id please ."
