After that revelation, everyone decided to take a couple more shots. Of course, many people asked Summer if he was okay when he refused more drinks, and he claimed he was feeling under the weather. The Seasons were frowning because Summer never said ‘under the weather’. He would say he ‘felt like s**t’ when he felt horrible.
Blue sighed as they finished their drink and walked across the tiny space to get to Chaos and Slaine, who were huddled together in a corner with Atticus, Jasper and Kevin standing as a shield between Slaine and Levi.
“Chaos, may I speak with you, alone please?” they said, their voice silvery, and Wing decided he really liked their voice.
Chaos nodded as they followed Blue, having to tilt their head a little to avoid hitting the doorway. Slaine scowled as Jasper snorted.
“Slaine?” Warren said, taking a large sip from his silver flask. “Where’s the body?”
“In my apartment.”
“You left it there?”
“Well, I couldn’t bring it across town with me, now could I?”
Warren grumbled something under his breath, pulled his phone out, and went to make a call somewhere else in the house.
Nobody knew what else to do, so everyone split off into small groups to talk amongst themselves until Blue or Warren returned. Wing looked up at Cairo, who looked down at him with a slight frown.
“Cairo?” Wing asked. “Are you okay?”
Cairo smiled a little as he ruffled Wing’s hair, much to his annoyance. “I am fine. What about you? Do you want to go somewhere else for a bit? I know this must be a lot for you to take in.”
Wing looked around, and part of him did not want to leave Slaine with Levi. Although he didn’t know the entire story, he had heard bits and pieces from the others, and well, what Levi did, Slaine wouldn’t wish that upon his worst enemies. But Kevin and Atticus were covering their lover and Slaine and glaring at Levi standing alone in a corner.
A small scream caught Wing’s attention; it was Rosalyn arguing with Neo and Alexander, and they still held her in place while her father tried to calm her down again.
“I don't care,” she hissed. “Slaine’s like a little brother to me, a really annoying and f*****g rude one, but a brother nonetheless and that piece of s**t hurt him.”
“I know, Rosa,” Maddox said, smiling. “He is like a son to us. But you can’t attack him.”
She scowled as she tried pulling at her arms again. “I’m not going to attack him. I’m going to kill him.”
“Rosalyn-”
Wing tensed; he snapped his eyes at Cairo when he felt a hand on the small of his back, who looked at him with a slight frown. “I don’t know what’s going on in your brain, but you’re starting to breathe too fast.”
“Can we go somewhere else?”
Cairo nodded as he grabbed Wing’s hand and led the way out. Wing stopped before the couch to look down at Thorne, who was fast asleep. He sighed as he ran a hand through his best friend's hair before readjusting his pillow and putting a thin blanket over him.
The two left, and Wing scowled at how warm it was. “I hate summer,” he whined.
“We can’t feel the heat, though.”
“I know,” he replied. “But when I was human, I hated summer. I hated how warm I would be and how uncomfortable it was.”
“We can sit in the car, and if there's any help, I’ll turn the AC on.”
Wing nodded, smiling as he went to the passenger side. The two climbed in, and the first thing Cairo did was turn the AC on. His mind went to when Cairo had disappeared on him for two weeks and how bruised and beaten he was when he returned. And when Wing tried to get information from him, he said nothing.
And then a wave of anger rushed over him as he stared at the AC; he knew he was getting cold air. He had seen Cairo turn on the AC but couldn’t feel anything. And at the beginning, he had found it excellent, but as time passed, he became increasingly agitated. He missed not feeling hot or cold, he always had to be just right, and while that had its upsides, it was a reminder that they had tortured him.
The man with the glowing green eyes had tortured him and left him for dead. He would have died if it wasn’t for Slaine. He had been thrown aside after being hurt beyond means, and some days, he’d wake up thinking he was still there. Or someone’s touch would still freak him out. He still very much hated rain or even water. He was glad vampires didn’t sweat. Therefore, they didn’t have an odour because he hadn’t showered. He missed having showers, but he had tried a few times, but he would always end up panicking, turning the tap off and running to hide in his closet until his overwhelming panic seemed to fade.
“A penny for your thoughts?”
“I want to kill the man with the flowing green eyes.”
“What?” Cairo asked, and Wing peeled his eyes away from the AC to look at Cairo, whose head was c****d a little.
“There was a man. Where I was held, he had glowing green eyes. He was always the one who would come and torture me. always him—no one else. And I want to kill him.”
Cairo opened his mouth to say something, but something behind Cairo caught Wing’s attention, and he jumped a little when he saw Jem’s face pressed against the window, his features all squashed, and his breath clouding where it was hitting.
Ciaor turned around and jumped before he sighed and rolled down a window.
“Your care is f*****g awesome. But Nini did it! We know what the prophecies are. Come, they won’t tell us until everyone is there.”
Wing and Cairo clambered out of the car and practically ran inside to see everyone waiting. Wing smiled slightly as he walked through, with Cairo behind him.
Blue stood in the middle of the room, a slight frown on their face as they scanned over the notebook they were holding; they looked up as Wing and Cairo appeared and gave them a slight smile. “I’m sure Jem told you I managed to translate the prophecy. And, well, yikes.”
“Yikes?” Micah said, frowning. “Yikes, how?”
“As I said before, the title is The burning will occur in the Light of the Celestial. Part one is that Life’s warmth shall light the celestial's path. Part two is The fall of the Deathless shall be in the hands of the one least expected. Three is the first secret shall escape. With four being, The Creator’s control will anger the tides, and all will go under. And Five, Death will drown in the shadows, losing life’s warmth. And the one without a number, at the bottom of the page, is the everlasting father shall be the rise and fall.
The room was silent. And almost after five minutes, Micah gasped, whacking Alexander on the arm. “Part two, the deathless one. Is that not Chaos? I don’t know; I’m snowballing here. But think about it, everyone here will live longer than humans, except Chaos. They have been alive longer than we have and will be there long after we die. And they did technically fall, considering that the Judeo-Christian heaven is where the gods are, and heaven is above. So a god falls, right you with me so far. And Slaine. Slaine caused the fall.”
“I did not.”
Micah scowled. “Were you or were you not part of why Chaos is here?”
“Yeah.”
“Then shut it.”
“But that’s part two,” Winter said after a while. “Which means part one has already happened.”
