Winter didn’t think he would miss Aether as much as he did, and he was pacing in Slaine’s apartment, Mary and Gabriel watching him walk back and forth. “What’s wrong with you?” Mary deadpanned as he rubbed his neck. “Shut up,” Winter replied absently. What if something had happened to Aether? What if their parents hadn’t let them return, and they were trapped? Their last meeting would have been Winter awkwardly smiling at him because he hadn’t been sure what to do with his body or his extremities. He should have hugged him at the least, or something, even a handshake, anything but an awkward smile that he had given. When the door opened, Winter heard Slaine mutter something about more unwanted people in his f*****g home, but Winter ignored him as he stared at Aether and Kevin standing
