When someone had knocked on the door, Cairo had told Wing to open it, so he had. He hadn’t expected to see Slaine standing there with two men he had never seen. One had pale skin, long pale hair and nice thick eyebrows, with a little slit between the right and the same purple eyes as Slaine. While the other also had long pale hair, his skin was much darker than the vampires, and his eyes were red—a bright blood red.
Slaine stared blankly at him. “You’re gonna wanna call the rest. Like right now.”
“Wing?” Cairo asked; Wing turned to see Cairo standing there, his dark hair a mess, as he yawned into the crook of his elbow and then scratched his stomach so his white shirt was raised a little to reveal the beginning of a well-defined torso. And he hated how attractive Cairo looked right now and how something erupted in the pit of his stomach, but he pushed it down.
“Slaine said to call everyone,” he said, not taking his eyes off the man. “Like yesterday.” he peeled his eyes away from Cairo to stare at the ground. “I’m going to go do that.”
Wing walked into the kitchen and dialled for Jasper, who answered after the fourth bell. “Hey, Wing, what’s up?” he asked, awfully chipper for it being a little after midnight.
Wing opened the fridge and grabbed a blood pack, using a metal straw to pierce a hole in the packet. He took a big sip and sighed. “Can you call everyone and tell them to meet us at our apartment? Slaine is here with two people I have never seen.”
“Describe them.”
“One has white hair, same eyes as Slaine-”
“Ah, what the f**k. What the f*****g f**k?” he hissed. “Give us five minutes. We’ll all be there.”
Wing didn’t get to describe the second person as Jasper had hung up. He stared bewildered at his phone as he took another sip of the blood and grumbled something. Okay, sure. So, Jasper knew the person with the white hair, but who the f**k was the other one?
He went into the living room, and Slaine was standing beside the darker-skinned person, and the more Slaine stared at them, the more he realised how attractive they were. As mentioned, they had very dark skin, with blood-red almond-shaped eyes and long pale hair contrasting their dark skin. They were very tall, almost 6’6, and considering Wing was barely 6’, he found it odd. They were dressed in bright white, flowing robes, and the front was tied in an intricate way he could not quite figure out.
Cairo stared at the other man, a vampire, he realised, and then he, not so subtly, came over and stood by Wing, who looked up at him but said nothing.
Almost ten minutes later, Rosalyn burst through the door with a scream, and she launched herself at the vampire, only to be held back by Alexander and Neo. “Put me down!” she screamed. “When I get my hands on you, I am going to f*****g kill you!” She was glaring daggers at the man, who held a blank expression.
“If you wake up Keros, Rosalyn, I’ll be killing you,” Micah deadpanned as he walked in behind her with the child loosely wrapped in a blanket tucked between his arms.
“Nice to see you too, Rosalyn,” he replied.
“Put me down, Neo! I’m just going to stab him in the heart with this knife. It’s no big deal.”
“Rosa,” Elizabeth said, standing in front of her. Rosalyn’s eyes narrowed as she stared at her girlfriend.
“If you really take his side in this, Liz, we'll be breaking up.”
Elizabeth’s eyes narrowed. “You know that’s not what I am doing. Don’t even mention breaking up. He’s here for a reason. The sooner we kick him out, the sooner Slaine gets to move on with his life.”
“In case any of you care,” Slaine said, raising an eyebrow. “I have moved on. He can suck a d**k and die.”
The red-eyed person beside Slaine sighed. “Slaine, must you be so crude?” Their voice was so soft yet deep.
All eyes landed on them, and then they stared at Slaine. “Who’s that?”
“Chaos.”
See, even Rosalyn had quietened down as what Slaine had said processed. “The f*****g god.”
“Deity, but yes. They popped up when both Connor and Levi turned up in my apartment. Boy, I was so sure I was going to die.”
“Connor?” Jasper asked, frowning. “Who is Connor? Why have I never heard of him?”
“He was one of my many foster brothers.”
“What did he want?”
“He’s grooming one of my students. Don’t know how he found out I knew or where the f**k I lived, but he came to my house to threaten me as one does.”
“Then where does this cuntwaffle come in?” Rosalyn hissed.
Slaine shrugged. “I don’t know. He also just appeared.”
“Wait, wait, wait,” Wing said, as his eyes landed on Chaos, Slaine and everyone else in the living room, and then he laughed.
“Wing?”
Cairo sighed as he placed a hand on Wing’s lower back. “Give him a second.”
“Are you telling me that there is a deity standing in the middle of my room?”
“Yes,” Slaine said blankly. “That is exactly what I am saying. Say hi, Chaos.”
Chaos smiled, their red eyes almost disappearing as they squinted to smile. “Hello.”
Wing let out a deranged laugh. He was human in May, and in three months, he had become a vampire, befriended werewolves, vampires and even a magic welder, tortured and left for dead, and was involved in some ominous prophecy that would destroy the earth. Now a deity was standing in the living room, his tipping point.
“Oh, it’s wonderful you’re here,” Blue said, looking at Chaos. “I’ve been wanting to speak to you; Slaine wouldn’t let me.”
“I know, and let me apologise-”
“Don’t f*****g apologise for me,” Slaine deadpanned as he elbowed the god.
Wing stared at them both, waiting for the deity to smite him on the spot, but Chaos smiled at him. “Of course not.”
“Wing,” Cairo said. Wing looked up at the man. “You need to calm down.”
“I am calm.”
“You are not.”
“I’ve already explained why it’s so dangerous for vampires to have panic attacks.”
“I know,” he groaned. “Our hearts only beat 10-12 beats per minute, and when anxiety sets in, the quicker they beat, the more dangerous it is because the body isn’t getting enough blood, as the blood moves slower in someone dead. But I was human three months ago.”
Cairo sighed as he stood in front of him. He grabbed Wing’s hand and placed it over his heart. “You are still kinda human, Wing. We are the same, and while we may not have body heat. Our hearts still beat.”
Wing focused on his hand, and after a few seconds, he felt the shirt bump off his hand, and another six seconds later, he felt it bump again.
Right, of course. Things were different then. He was still kinda human. Life may not have been as sane as it was back then, but he didn’t have anyone besides Thorne. And now, he had so many people who would come with one phone call.
He had Cairo.
It would take some getting used to, but if vampires, werewolves, witches, and more existed. Of course, deities would exist. Of course.
