Julianna :
"Hey, wake up!"
Skylah rubs his squinted eyes and immediately gets up in shock as a stranger greets him in front of his bed.
Skylah :
"Hi…..who are you?"
Julianna :
"It's me! Julie! Woah, even YOU couldn't recognise me! Father John did such a good job with my facial reconstruction. He even altered my vocal cords so I sound a little different now."
Skylah :
"That's...….impressive.
You even have your long hair cut."
Julianna :
"Yeah well, Father John told me he could return me to my original appearance once this is all over."
John :
"You seem really exhausted from yesterday. We thought you could get a little more rest while we proceeded with the facial reconstruction."
Skylah :
"Thank you."
Julianna :
"So what's the plan? I'm still very confused about our discussion yesterday. If Ambie's brother and Leo's wife are taken there to be rehabilitated, what's next?
Am I supposed to bring them out of rehabilitation?"
Skylah :
"This may feel morally conflicting to you, but the entire world we know of will change if Johannes's plan is left unchecked."
Julianna :
"What's wrong if it changes for the better?"
Skylah :
"Because everything we knew would cease to exist. Changing history is worse than mass g******e.
If you murder someone, you still leave him with his existential value. People will remember him. If you change history and wipe out his existence, you destroy every value and worth of his life."
Julianna :
"How do you know they would cease to exist? Maybe we would just branch out into a new timeline, like a multiverse of some sort?"
Skylah :
"This may be the most ironic thing coming from me, since it's such a popular theory that comic books and movies love to adopt, but there's no such thing as a multiverse.
First of all, Doctor Sofia's experiment has already proven that. Remember the Grandfather Paradox that we talked about before we time travelled?
Think of life as a book. We were characters in this 'book of life'. The moment we transcended this book of life, we became authors of the book. We could read the book, from start to end. Our third soul, being the anchor, will still be in the book.
Yet, at the same time, we, as the authors, could theoretically rip the pages off where our grandfathers exist, without paradoxically erasing ourselves. The only person who would disappear from the Book of life would be our anchor.
Secondly, the concept of a multiverse flies in the face of John's belief, which is rooted in the Bible, the very source of science that allowed us to time travel in the first place."
John :
"I'm surprised you came up with this analogy before I had the opportunity to explain the same "Book of Life Theory" by Doctor Sofia and Doctor Salvia.
In fact, the Bible references the "Book of Life" in many instances. One example was in 32:31 when Moses pleaded to God for his people with the risk of having his name erased from the Book of Life."
Julianna :
"I don't get it. So, is the concept of the Multiverse contradictory to Christianity?"
Skylah :
"Hmm…. Picture this.
"Sin" is a huge concept of Christianity, right? But "Sin" is not some vague concept of morality. It literally means missing the mark.
Now picture a dartboard. If "Sin" means missing the mark, then anything that isn't a "bullseye" is a sin. This includes a totally harmless act like walking to the left, to be a sin, if you were meant to turn right.
If the concept of the Multiverse exists, then there will be a version of you hitting the 'bullseye', and countless more versions of you that did not.
It also undermines the concept of free will, since there's always going to be a version of you that did something about anything and everything, alongside a version of you that did not.
To put it simply, in the most "John" way possible, if the Multiverse exists, then there is a version of you that accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior, and a version of you that did not. This would render salvation meaningless."
John :
"That's the bible's definition, not the "John" way...."
Skylah :
"In other words, Julie, whenever you feel the compulsion to change history for the better, always remember that what you're actually doing is you're playing God by deciding who gets to have a good life, and who doesn't.
Thus, the plan is simple.
One -- You are there to investigate what is happening to all the people who were taken into custody there, including Ambie's brother and Leo Eta's wife, since they would not have been taken into custody in the first place if not for Johannes's interference with history.
Two – find Jonannes and stop him from changing history.
Three -- Keep your Instalator's communication function on at all times so we can back you up should anything happen."
Julianna :
"Understood."
Skylah :
"We will follow your track closely behind so we can provide you with backup if necessary."
John :
"There's no need for that, Skylah. If anything, we could teleport to or somewhere near Julianna."
Skylah :
"You could transport us like Julianna?"
John :
"No, my proficiency in that is limited. I could teleport but I cannot bring anyone else with me in the process, unlike Julianna.
You'll have to learn teleportation yourself. This brings me to my second point. We should remain here in the inn so I can guide you further on your transcendental powers."
Skylah :
"What a tedious and troublesome plan."
Julianna:
"Excuse me? I'm the one who has to get my face reconstructed before sneaking into the church.
I'll go ahead and meet up with Leo.
Also...…..all the best Skylah."
