CHAPTER 15: PROFESSOR RODGERS DOC’S MANUSCRIPT Rockburg, Evening, December 18, 1987 I got home from the clinic at a reasonable hour that evening. Mary and I talked while we washed dishes after dinner. The rambling message I left for Rodgers and the whole dizzy idea was eating at what ego I had left. “You’re the secretary of a local veterinary group?” She shook her head and sighed. “That’s what I told him.” “What’s the name of this group?” “Name?” “Yes. Groups have names. It’s an old custom. When does your group meet? Is this an annual meeting, your winter meeting, or do you meet monthly?” I felt sick. “Meet?” “Meet. People get together, greet each other, and discuss their plans. You should try it sometime. You could start with the family you rarely see from October to March.”
