The First Look- Part 6

400 Words
After their first date, Sarah and Samuel grew even closer. What started as shy glances had now turned into something warm and real—something that made every day feel a little brighter. At school, it became normal to see them together. Whether they were walking to class, sharing lunch, or quietly talking during lessons, they were almost always side by side. “You’re always smiling these days,” Sarah’s friend teased one afternoon. Sarah tried to hide it, but she couldn’t. “Am I?” “Yes,” her friend laughed. “And I think I know why.” Sarah didn’t answer, but she didn’t need to. Later that day, Sarah found Samuel waiting for her by their usual spot. “Took you long enough,” he joked. “Excuse me?” Sarah replied, pretending to be annoyed. “I was busy.” “Busy thinking about me?” he teased. Sarah rolled her eyes, but her smile gave her away. “Maybe.” They both laughed, the kind of laugh that felt easy and natural. As the days passed, they began creating small routines—walking home together, sharing snacks, and even studying side by side. It wasn’t anything big or dramatic, but somehow, those little moments meant everything. One afternoon, while they were sitting under a tree after school, Samuel looked at Sarah thoughtfully. “Can I ask you something?” he said. Sarah nodded. “Of course.” “What was the first thing you noticed about me?” Sarah smiled, remembering that moment clearly. “Your eyes,” she said softly. “That first time… when we looked at each other.” Samuel smiled. “Same.” Sarah blinked. “Really?” “Yeah,” he said. “I just didn’t know how to say anything back then.” Sarah laughed gently. “Me neither.” There was a quiet pause, but it wasn’t awkward—it was peaceful. Samuel leaned back against the tree. “I’m glad things turned out this way.” Sarah looked at him, her heart calm but full. “Me too,” she said. As the breeze passed softly around them, Sarah realized something important. Love didn’t always have to be loud or complicated. Sometimes, it was just this— Sitting together, laughing, sharing small moments… and feeling completely happy. And with Samuel beside her, that was more than enough.
