Time seemed to move faster when Sarah was with Samuel.
What once felt new and exciting had now become something steady and comforting.
They didnât need big moments to feel happyâjust being together was enough.
One afternoon after school, they sat in their usual spot under the tree. The sun was beginning to set, painting the sky in soft shades of orange and pink.
Samuel looked unusually quiet.
âWhat are you thinking about?â Sarah asked, tilting her head slightly.
Samuel hesitated for a moment before answering. âUs.â
Sarahâs heart skipped a beat. âUs?â
He nodded.
âYeahâĶ like, where this is going. Not in a bad way,â he added quickly. âI justâĶ really care about you.â
Sarah felt warmth spread through her chest.
âI care about you too,â she said softly.
Samuel smiled, but there was something deeper in his eyes now. âIâve never felt like this before. With anyone.â
Sarah looked down for a second, her fingers gently playing with the edge of her sleeve.
âMe neither,â she admitted.
There was a quiet moment between them, filled with unspoken feelings.
Then Samuel reached for her hand, holding it gently.
âI donât know what the future looks like,â he said, âbut I know I want you in it.â
Sarah looked up at him, her heart full.
For a second, she remembered everythingâthe first look, the shy feeling, the racing heart, the misunderstandings, and all the moments that led them here.
And nowâĶ this.
She smiled.
âThen letâs just take it one day at a time,â she said. âTogether.â
Samuel nodded, squeezing her hand softly.
âTogether.â
As the sun slowly disappeared behind the horizon, Sarah rested her head lightly on his shoulder.
There were no more questions, no more doubts.
Just two people who found each other in the simplest wayâĶ
And chose to stay.
