Sophia's eyes went red, and she spun to leave. "Sophia!" Theodore yanked his hand from mine, chasing after her in a few quick strides. "It's not what you think." My hand hung in the air, the warmth of his grip fading fast. Seeing him so frantic for her felt like someone carved a chunk out of my heart. "I just brought her to taste the food," he said, his voice softer than I'd ever heard it. "Didn't you say you're into rustic flavors lately?"
