Cole's POV
'I told you guys to leave her be until I could explain the situation.' Cole mind linked the King and Queen.
'I'm sorry son, we just really wanted to see our future daughter in law.' His mom, Queen Samantha, answered him.
Cole was really mad. Katrina had barely survived that stupid b****s attack, and the stress they just put her through made him irrational. He forgot he still had her in his arms, until he squeezed her and she groaned in protest.
'We really are sorry son. We just wanted to make sure she felt welcomed. I didnt mean to scare her.' His dad added.
Cole bit his tongue. 'It's fine.' He said before cutting off the mind link.
Looking down he could see the clear irritation in her bright green eyes. "I'm sorry baby girl. Let's have the doctor check you out again, and then I'll show you up to our quarters."
Dr. Simms who had been patiently waiting off to the side, waved them all back to her room. Cole followed first, still holding Katrina in his arms. Cole glanced back as his parents began to follow.
"Please stay out there until after the Dr is done." He said, his voice dripping with irritation.
The King smiled at him and held up his hands in a defensive position. "As you wish," before pulling his wife into his side.
As soon as the door shut, Katrina slapped his chest. It didn't hurt, but he pretended for her sake. "What was that for?"
"Are you trying to get yourself killed? That's your King!" Katrina growled at him, which was completely adorable.
"Are you worried about me sweet girl?" Cole asked, his heart skipping a beat at the thought.
Katrina rolled her eyes at him, and scoffed. "As if. I'm just not trying to die with you."
He just smiled at her, before teasingly saying "you like meeee."
Before she could respond to him, Dr. Simms interrupted them both.
"Please, Young Alpha, if you would set my patient down. You two can go flirt somewhere more comfortable afterwards."
Cole watched as Katrinas' face turned a bright red, but she didn't respond to him. He was elated to see it, she looked so pretty when she was embarrassed.

Katrinas' POV
The Dr had been quick looking her over, but she wished he would be a bit slower. She didn't want to be alone with Cole, her feelings were all over the place.
Being stuck with werewolves for her entire life, mated to the species that enslaved her as a child. Luna to a pack who would never respect her. She scoffed at the very idea.
At the same time though, she had never experienced the care he had shown her. Had never felt her heart race just from a touch. It felt amazing when he had kissed her, like she was drowning and he was the oxygen she so desperately needed.
So into her own thoughts, she completely missed the question the Dr asked her. It took a gentle shake from Cole to bring her back.
"Huh?" She asked.
The Dr, a handsome older man, with a sweet, but concerned smile was looking at me. "You look good, Luna. However I do have some questions about your medical past. First when was your last check up?"
Katrina stared at him for a minute. "I'm not your Luna. I also don't know what a check up is?"
Cole growled, a deep and angry sound beside her. She glanced at him, worried about what he thought of that. 'He's going to have to understand eventually that i'm not the right match for him.'
"Her last pack is despicable. I doubt they've ever done anything for her." Cole growled out at the Dr.
The Dr. Seemed to expect this answer.
"Well Lu- I mean Katrina, I do want to run some more tests, and we need to keep an eye on your back and head until your injuries heal. We can run the tests later tomorrow. Right now I want you to go get yourself a big meal." He flips a page on his chart. "Your BMI is extremely low, to the point of starvation. I need you eating 3 meals a day and snacks in between."
Katrina listened to him, but she was worried. There was no way she was going to be able to pay for all of these Dr visits, and still have enough money to feed herself. She was to embarrassed to say that in front of Cole though. So she just nodded.
"Alright, well that should be everything. Young Alpha, if you will let me know where she is set up at, I can do at home visits so she doesn't need to keep coming up here."
"Yes, of course Dr. Simms. Thank you for all of your help." Cole said, and without asking picked her right up off the bed.
"Hey! I can walk all by myself," she said pushing at his chest. Despite how much she loved the feeling of him, it was just confusing her even more. She didn't want this.
He looked down at her, and for the first time she saw what looked like actual hurt in his eyes. Her heart tripled in speed at the sight.
"I'm carrying you, whether you like it or not." He growled, pulling her closer to his chest.
Even though she would deny it to anyone who suggested it; she was happy he kept holding her. The heat coming from him was amazing, like sitting in front of a fireplace.
The second he opened the door though, she was horrified. The King and Queen were standing there waiting. Instantly renewing her efforts, she tried to wiggle her way out of his arms, but it did no good. She was weak even compared to humans, she had no chance against him.
"Cole, Katrina, we understand you guys need a few minutes alone to sort through some things. However the moment you're finished, please come see me up in my office." The King said, his face still as happy as when they'd gone in the Drs room.
"I will, but Katrina is going to stay and rest." Cole said, his voice hard. 'He would deny his king my presence?' She didn't know what to think.
The King didn't seem bothered though. Instead he just reached out and grabbed his shoulder, giving it a light shake. "As you wish." Before they both walked away.
Cole turned and walked in the opposite direction of them. The hall we were in was bland, like most hospitals. Except the moment we left the hall she realized they weren't in a hospital. This was a pack house.
Her heart froze in her chest, before taking off full speed ahead. Cole noticed her distress and began moving faster, heading towards a staircase in the center of the room. People were watching them as they went, and she just knew they were disgusted with what they saw.
It didn't matter though, she didn't have the energy to keep trying to force him to set her down. Instead she just closed her eyes and buried her face in his chest, trying to hide.
She stayed that way until he reached the top floor of the house and he pulled to a stop in front of a door on the corner. Unsure of how many floors they'd gone up, but she knew it was a lot. Cole was looking down at her, waiting for her to look at him.
After a few minutes she finally lifted her head, quickly looking around to make sure no one else was around.
"Is this where I'll be staying?" Katrina asked, her voice full of the fear she was trying so hard to hold at bay.
"For the next few days, yes. I have a few omegas cleaning out and remaking the room next door. For now though," he said, stepping inside the room. "You'll stay in here with me."
"Excuse me?" She asked in disbelief.
"It's just until you're settled, and I'll even sleep on the couch." He said, nodding at the giant L shaped couch he had against the wall. "I just want to make sure you transition into our pack okay."
It sent butterflies into her stomach, his thoughtfulness. She didn't trust that he would leave her be, but at least she could hide from the rest of the pack for now. Certainly only high level pack members were allowed on his floors. Well and her too of course.
He put her down gently on his bed, and she stopped for a moment to appreciate his room. It was beautifully decorated with navy blue and silver colors. She wondered if it had been his design or one of his servants.
Cole was standing in front of her, his hands still burning on her waist. "I'm going to go get you some food, and then we really need to talk." He said, with apparent reluctance.
"You should meet with your King first, I am fine for now. Do you have my bag though?" She asked glancing around the room.
In answer, he pulled it out from under the bed and handed it to her. She smiled at him, before pulling out some of her money.
"Here, please take this, as payment for the room and food. Please let me know if you need more."
Cole stared at her with a look that could only be interpreted as anger. "This is my pack, you are my mate. There is absolutely nothing for you to spend your money on. Keep it, spend it on something you want."
She felt the blood rush into her cheeks. It was silly she knew, but the idea that he wanted to take care of her was insane.
Still, she said nothing. Just put the money back in, got under the covers and turned away from him. Wishing him gone.
