Alayna pulled back slightly, looking up at him with a smile. "Iโ€™ve missed you," she whispered, her eyes full of affection. Kyree, deciding to play along for the moment, returned her smile. "I've missed you too," he said, his voice gentle but measured. He was determined to gather as much information as possible. Alayna's eyes sparkled with happiness. "I was so worried about you, I'm sorry about what happened last time" Kyree hesitated, choosing his words carefully. "It's okay, Alayna. You don't have to be sorry" Aaron, standing a few feet away, watched in stunned silence. He had never seen Kyree allow such an intimate gesture from anyone, let alone play along with it. Alayna, still holding onto Kyree, looked into his eyes. "Iโ€™m just glad youโ€™re back. I was praying youโ€™d come back soon." Kyree nodded, maintaining his facade. "Tell me, Alayna, what have you been doing since I last saw you?" Alaynaโ€™s expression softened as she began to recount her days, filled with thoughts of him and her time at the church. She seemed completely unaware of the true nature of the man she thought she loved. As she spoke, Kyree listened intently, piecing together Killianโ€™s movements and motives. He felt a pang of guilt for deceiving her, but he needed to understand the full extent of his brotherโ€™s actions. After a while, Alayna looked around, suddenly realizing the presence of Aaron. "Whoโ€™s he?" she asked, her curiosity piqued. Kyree glanced at Aaron. "He's with me. He's here to help." Aaron stepped forward, still wary but following Kyree's lead. "I'm Aaron. Nice to meet you." Alayna nodded, though her focus quickly returned to Kyree. "Iโ€™m just so happy youโ€™re back. I was starting to think something bad had happened." Kyree smiled reassuringly. "Iโ€™m here now, and I promise everything will be alright." Alayna's relief was palpable as she hugged Kyree again. Aaron watched, his disbelief evident. Kyree had always been a fortress, untouchable and unyielding. Seeing him play along with Alaynaโ€™s misunderstanding was both shocking and revealing. When Alayna finally pulled away, Kyree gently held her hands. "I need to take care of a few things, but I'll come back for you. Wait for me here." Alayna nodded, her trust in him unwavering. "I will. Just promise you'll be careful." "I promise," Kyree said, his voice soft but firm. As they left the church, Aaron glanced at Kyree, still processing what he had witnessed. "Boss, Iโ€™ve never seen you let anyone get that close." Kyreeโ€™s expression hardened as they stepped into the night. "We needed information, and this was the best way to get it. But now we know. Killian's playing with her heart, and it's time to put an end to it." Aaron nodded, respect and curiosity mingling in his gaze. "Whatโ€™s the plan?" Kyree's eyes were cold and resolute. "We find Killian, confront him, and ensure Alayna is safe from his games. And Aaron, if you see him set foot in Marseille again, bring him to me. This ends tonight." Aaron nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "Understood, Boss." As they moved through the shadowy streets of Marseille, Kyreeโ€™s thoughts were a storm of anger and determination. He would protect his territory, confront his brother, and ensure that Alayna was no longer a pawn in Killianโ€™s reckless game. The night held the promise of resolution, and Kyree was ready to face whatever came next. Killian slipped into the grand foyer of his family's mansion in Montpelier, the dim light casting long shadows on the marble floor. He had been away for weeks, his absence filled with secretive trips to Marseille and attempts to win over Alayna. Now, he returned with a new plan in mind, one that would require the supportโ€”or at least the silenceโ€”of his parents. As he made his way towards the study, the sound of raised voices drifted down the hallway. His mother, Hazel, and his stepfather, Ramiel, were in the midst of a heated discussion. Killian pushed the heavy oak door open, stepping into the room. "Killian!" Hazel exclaimed, her surprise evident. "Where have you been? We've been worried sick!" Ramiel, a stern man with graying hair and a perpetual scowl, eyed Killian with a mix of confusion and suspicion. "You've got a lot of explaining to do, young man." Killian flashed a charming smile, attempting to diffuse the tension. "I know, I know. I've been in Marseille, handling some personal business." "Personal business?" Hazel repeated, her eyes narrowing. "What could possibly be so important that youโ€™d disappear without a word?" Killian took a deep breath, deciding it was best to be direct. "Kyree's been in Marseille too. Heโ€™s been... interfering with my plans." Ramiel's eyes narrowed. "Kyree? What's he doing in Marseille?" Killian's smile faded, replaced by a more serious expression. "He's found out about Alayna." Hazelโ€™s face softened slightly. "Alayna? That girl you've been seeing?" Killian nodded. "Yes, but itโ€™s more complicated than that. Kyree thinks he can just waltz into Marseille and stop me. He doesn't understand how important this is." Ramiel crossed his arms over his chest, his gaze unwavering. "And what exactly are your plans, Killian?" Taking a deep breath, Killian revealed his intentions. "I'm going to steal Alayna away and bring her here, to Montpelier. She belongs with me, not in that convent. And with Kyree snooping around, I need to act fast." Hazel gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. "Steal her? Killian, that's... that's dangerous!" Ramiel's face darkened with disapproval. "And reckless. Do you realize the kind of trouble you're inviting?" Killian's eyes glinted with determination. "I know what I'm doing. Alayna is special. Sheโ€™s not like the others. I need her to be here, with me." Hazel looked torn, her maternal instincts warring with her desire to support her son. "But why bring her here? Why not just... convince her to come willingly?" Killian shook his head. "Sheโ€™s too sheltered, too innocent. She needs to see the real world, and I need to protect her from Kyreeโ€™s interference. If she stays in Marseille, she'll never be truly mine." Ramiel leaned forward, his gaze piercing. "And you think bringing her here will solve everything? What if she resists? What if Kyree comes after you?" Killian's smile returned, but it was colder this time. "I'll handle Kyree. As for Alayna, once sheโ€™s here, sheโ€™ll see things my way. Trust me." Hazel exchanged a worried glance with Ramiel. "Killian, weโ€™re concerned about you. This obsession with Alayna... itโ€™s not healthy." Killian's expression softened slightly. "I know it sounds extreme, but I care about her. And I won't let Kyree ruin this for me." Ramiel sighed, shaking his head. "Just be careful, son. You're playing a dangerous game." Killian nodded, appreciating the warning even if he didnโ€™t fully heed it. "I will. And thank you for understanding." As he turned to leave the study, Hazel called out to him. "Killian, please... think this through. We donโ€™t want to see you get hurt." Killian paused at the doorway, a shadow of uncertainty crossing his face. "Iโ€™ll be fine, Mom. I promise." With that, he stepped out of the study and into the night, his mind racing with plans and possibilities. He was determined to have Alayna, no matter the cost. And if it meant crossing his brother and bringing her to Montpelier, then so be it. The game had begun, and Killian was ready to play.
