Brightness flowed into Medrielle's room. Darn it, she had forgotten to close the blackout curtains when she went to bed last night. What time is it, she thought?
She had set her alarm for six thirty, and it hadn't gone off yet, so she still had some time to try to catch a little more rest before she had to get up and get ready. She squeezed her eyes tightly to try to block out the light, but it didn't work. She tried putting the pillow over her head, but she didn't like that feeling because she felt like she couldn't really breathe properly. She put the pillow behind her head and just laid there.
She thought about last night and was sad that Brock hadn't come to her in her dreams. She'd have to talk to him about that when or if he called her.
She slid out of bed, went into the bathroom, and looked at herself in the mirror. She loved the slight color she had picked up on her walk to visit her parents, but she would still like a little more. She got in the shower and quickly jumped out to grab a clip for her hair. She didn't want to get it wet. She rolled it up into a tight bun and clipped it in place.
After her shower, she was looking through her closet. She will meet Alpha's daughters today for the first time. She knew the oldest one, Daisy, was going on six and the youngest, Lily, going on five. She tried to imagine what kind of outfit would impress pups their age, maybe something sparkly, she thought.
She rummaged through her closet. The only sparkly items she owned were actually only club worthy. She ended up grabbing a white sundress with large, beautiful sunflowers across the top. It had spaghetti straps that tied on the shoulders and flowed down to just above her knees. She grabbed a pair of brown sandals and put them on. After she applied her make-up and combed through her hair lightly, she looked at herself in the full-length mirror in her closet. She was satisfied with the look and walked out to the kitchen, where she fixed herself an egg omelet with toast, fruit, and a cup of coffee. She quickly cleaned up and waited for the pups to arrive.
The girls had been in the city with Beta Jason's parents to watch a show and stayed a couple of nights to do some shopping and get haircuts. That's what Jason said at dinner last night. She really hoped they'd all get along and they wouldn't act like spoiled brats. She despised spoiled little brats.
A little while later, she heard voices in the hall approaching. One of them was Beta Jason's. She ran to the end of the foyer and waited for them to enter.
When the door opened, she looked for the pups first. She saw two pretty little pups with long hair. She scanned them quickly and realized all three of them were wearing dresses with sunflowers. What are the odds? The pups also noticed right away, and in unison, all three of them said, "sunflowers!"
Beta Jason, Addi, and she guessed their parents all stopped talking and looked from Medrielle to the pups and back to Medrielle again. Addi jumped in quickly and said, "Wow, what are the odds of all three of you wearing dresses with sunflowers for your first meeting? That has to be a sign that you are all destined to be great friends."
The pups were a bit shy and hid behind Jason's parents at first. Medrielle bent down to their level and smiled. She looked at them and said, "Hello, I'm Medrielle, and I am new here. I am hoping you two can show me around and help me not feel so scared."
Immediately, the older pup moved from around the adults and approached Medrielle. She grabbed her sister's hand, and they both stood in front of her. Daisy spoke first, "Hello Medrielle, I am Daisy, and this is Lily, my little sister. We brought you a gift. Do you want to see it?"
Medrielle was surprised that they were so thoughtful and got her something. She wished she could have done something like that for them. Now she felt bad. "I would love to see it. Can you please show it to me?" said Medrielle.
Daisy turned to the older woman standing near Jason, who she assumed was his mother. She had the same color hair and eyes, she was gorgeous and asked her to please get the gift.
The male was a little shorter than Jason and had Jasons smile and features. He was very muscular with a buzz cut. He pulled something out of a small suitcase that obviously belonged to one of the pups because it was pink and had different colored flowers on it. He handed her something that was wrapped in white tissue paper.
Daisy took it from him and handed it to Medrielle. Medrielle asked Daisy if it was alright for them to move to the living room so all the adults could come in and sit down. Daisy shook her head yes, and they all walked to the sectional.
Medrielle sat in the middle, and Daisy and Lily stood right beside her on the left side. The other adults took a seat on the sectional as well.
Medrielle began to pull the tissue paper away to reveal a beautiful paper weight with a crescent moon and a full moon that you could move back and fourth to allow either the full or crescent moon on the top and the other on the bottom. The entire paperweight sparkled, and on the bottom of it, the words welcome home appeared. Medrielle loved it. It was so beautiful and thoughtful. The girls both hugged her at the same time. Medrielle put the paperweight down next to her and wrapped her arms around both of them, and pulled them close.
Everyone was really surprised that the pups allowed her to hug them after just meeting. Normally, they were very shy around anyone they didn't know.
Then Medrielle grabbed her cell phone and asked if she could take a picture of all three of them to remember this moment forever. Both the girls smiled happily and nodded their heads in unison. Yes. She snapped the picture of all three of them smiling, wearing their sunflower dresses, and saved it to her gallery. She had a feeling they would all be very good friends.
Beta Jason spoke up and said, "Wow, that was quite an introduction." Everyone laughed, including the girls who were now seated next to Medrielle on either side of her.
They were touching her hair, and Lily finally opened up and asked her why she was talking so funny. Everyone laughed again while Medrielle tried to explain she had lived far away for so long that people talked like that, and their accents rubbed off on her. Lily asked if she could talk like her when she grew up, and Medrielle responded with, "I don't see why not."
As the girls played with Medrielle's hair, Jason introduced his parents. His father's name is Eric, and his mother is Niya.
Niya grabbed onto both Medrielles' hands and held them tight. She had a huge smile and what seemed to Medrielle, watery eyes. "It's so good to see you, Medrielle. I'm glad you're back home again."
Medrielle scrinched her eyes and stared at Niya. A blurred memory of three women and her mother sitting in the grass on a blanket, as if at a picnic, came to her mind. She opened her eyes wide, "Auntie Yaya?" she said with uncertainty. "Is that you?"
"Yes, yes dear," she said as tears ran down her cheeks. She let Medrielles' hands go and wrapped her arms around her and pulled her into a tight embrace.
"You remebered," she exclaimed as she hugged Medrielle tighter. "Oh love, I was hoping you hadn't forgotten me. It's been so long!"
Medrielle wasn't sure herself how the memory had flashed into her head. She didn't remember much from her childhood here.
Eric cleared his throat and then stated, "He wished they could stay longer but had to get back home. They hugged everyone goodbye, including Medrielle, and walked to the door.
When they got there, they both turned around and said, "Medrielle, you really are the flame." They all busted out laughing again as Medrielle covered her face with her hands.
When Jason's parents were gone and the door closed, Medrielle started punching Jason in the arm and telling him he was a horrible Beta.
Jason yelled out, "Hey, you hit hard, and it wasn't me. It was Addi. Blame her, not me." Addi gasped in horror, and she also started punching Jason, yelling how dare he make her take the fall. The pups even joined in and jumped onto Jason, screaming, "Bad Beta, bad Beta."
Jason jumped up with a loud growl, dumped the pups onto the sofa, ran to the door, and escaped their punishing blows. Medrielle yelled out to him that he had better not tell anyone else about her and Brock's convo or he would have hell to pay. She then looked at Addi, who made the motion of zipping her lips and throwing away the key.
