The captain's voice came over the loud speaker and brought Medrielle back from her thoughts. After introducing himself and laying out the flight plan, he handed the speaker over to one of the flight attendants who gave her speech about the plane and instructions in case of an emergency. Medrielle made sure to listen intently to all instructions. She didn't want to be clueless if something happened during the flight.
It was time for take off, and the plane sped down the runway. The rumblings, whistling and bouncing, made her a little nervous. Then she felt the plane lifting and leaving the earth. It made her stomach do somersaults just like the roller coasters at the fair.
Medrielle felt the plane even out and relaxed as she looked out the window to the city below until all she could see were clouds. She laid her head against the cool window and let her mind wander back to one of her favorite memories of her original pack lands.
She could recall being a young pup running through the thick forest. The trees were so strong and tall she thought they touched the sky. The moss and grass covered the ground with every shade of green you could ever imagine and the smell of the moist earth. Now that was her favorite of all.
She would lie on the ground and breathe in the scent of the forest around her, feel it enter her lungs and bring her an exhilaration she can't forget and has yet to find again.
She remembers lying silent and still on the ground, a vibration from deep below the earth, something that only she could feel, would radiate across her small body, almost like a current of electricity that brought her goosebumps and made her tingle from head to toe. Even though she was so young, this was one of her most vivid memories. She could almost feel that same tingling sensation now and every time she recalled this memory.
Medrielle sighed loudly. What was she doing? Was this really what she wanted to go back to her pack after all these years? The pack that had The Savage Lycan Prince as Alpha now?
She had heard many stories about the Lycan Prince. His lycan would go insane with rage and snap. He would destroy and kill anything in his path, and now she's going to be taking care of his children?Although he had never hurt anyone in his pack, she was still very concerned.
She was also worried about how the rest of the pack would treat her when she returned. Would she be treated like an outsider or be respected as the returning daughter of Alpha Fuerza? Either way, she was second-guessing her decision.
She wished now that she had never received the call from Dr. Grant with his request to go back home for an assignment to help the pack.
Dr. Graham Grant was the pack doctor when Medrielle's father was Alpha and is still the head doctor of the pack. He and her father were best friends and grew up together. He was basically her uncle and the closest thing she had to family other than Alpha Garrett and Luna Renea. He was also the only one who kept in contact with her and visited her throughout the past sixteen years.
Medrielle looked out the window. It was nighttime, pitch black. She couldn't see anything. She slid the window cover down and laid back in her seat. She closed her eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.
She was running through the forest and holding his hand. They were laughing and giggling. She could feel the breeze on her face and her raven black locks of hair rubbing against her back and shoulders. She was holding a crown on her head with her other hand. She must have been five or six, just before her move to Euroland maybe.
She looked over at the boy holding her hand. He was a lot bigger than her but couldn't have been much older. He had dark black hair, and he was also wearing a crown, but it fit his head perfectly, so he didn't have to hold on to it. He looked over, and she saw his honey-colored eyes. They had gold flecks in them and sparkled so bright like the sunlight.
They jumped over a fallen tree and ran past a spring of flowing water when Medrielle smelled something. It was a horrible odor that burned her nostrils.
She looked to her left and saw red eyes peering at them. Suddenly, the eyes moved and jumped out of the forest shrubs.
That's when she saw a large wolf with his fangs bared running towards them. The boy yelled to her to run faster. She tried but her legs couldn't move and she felt herself falling to the ground. She had tripped over a large tree root and landed hard, face first.
The boy still held her hand and was trying to pull her up. She was scared and crying and wanted her father desperately. The boy pulled her up, and she was on her feet now.
Medrielle looked around in a panic and saw three large wolves surrounding them. She knew they were rogues, their red eyes and stench were unmistakable. They had been rejected from their pack, and now their wolves had total control. They could also be feral.
Her heart was beating fast, she could fill it thumping through her chest, one of the rogues pounced at them, growling and chomping at the air trying to capture a part of her body in his mouth to rip her to shreds. She closed her eyes and screamed.
Medrielle woke up when she felt her body jerk. Her forehead was sweating, and she was shaking hard. It was the same nightmare she had since she was a young pup.
She looked around to sort out her surroundings and remembered she was on an airplane headed back home to her pack.
One of the flight attendants noticed her stirring and brought her a bottle of water. She took the bottle and thanked her for her kindness. She removed the cap and slowly took a few sips. Her wolf Reyna tried to calm her down by sending her vibes to try to relax. They would be home soon.
It took Medrielle a few more minutes to get over the bad feelings the dream brought out in her.
She took a few more sips of water and thought of the boy from her nightmare. She wasn't even sure who the boy was, and she never saw his face clearly. She didn't know if she actually knew him when she was younger or if she had made him up, but she did feel some sort of a connection to him.
After a few more minutes, she fell back to sleep. She awoke to the captain's voice over the speakers to advise them all that they would be landing shortly.
This was it. Medrielle would be home in just a few more hours after all this time. She decided it felt good. She would finally have the chance to visit her parents' graves and see the pack lands she had yearned for all these years.
Large tears escaped her eyes. They ran down her cheeks and landed on her shoulders as she stood waiting for her turn to exit the plane. She thought to herself, "Would she finally find her mate?" Since she turned eighteen, she had felt a strong desire from Reyna to find their mate.
Medrielle wasn't interested in anything like that. She was only twenty-two years old. She wanted more adventure before she was tied down to a mate, but Reyna also knew Medrielle lacked that special kind of love in her life and they both wanted it, even though only one of them was willing to admit it.
Reyna was a part of Medrielle. They shared a mind like all werewolves. Her wolf could hear her thoughts but couldn't speak. She growled or whimpered to portray how she felt. They also communicated by feelings, and sometimes Reyna would send her images of things she wanted, like now of couples kissing and other things mated couples do.
