On a weekend afternoon, the sky suddenly darkened with heavy clouds, followed by a loud rumble of thunder. A heavy downpour began shortly after. Gu Yunshen stood by the window, watching the rainwater fall in the yard, sighing softly, “I was planning to take a walk in the park, but now it seems we’ll have to stay at home.”
Lu Zeyang put down the newspaper and glanced at her back, suddenly standing up and walking over to her, taking her hand, “We can still go.”
“Go in the rain? Are you crazy?” Gu Yunshen looked at him with disbelief.
“Life needs a little excitement,” he smiled, grabbing an umbrella and pulling her outside.
The streets were empty under the heavy rain, except for their two figures walking side by side. The umbrella wasn’t large enough, so occasionally, raindrops splashed on their clothes. Yet, Lu Zeyang tilted the umbrella toward her, leaving nearly his entire shoulder soaked.
“You’ll get a cold like this,” Gu Yunshen frowned, pushing the umbrella back to the center.
“I’m healthy, I don’t fear a cold,” he looked at her softly, “It’s you I’m concerned about.”
Together, they walked to the park. Gu Yunshen looked at the wet grass and the rain-soaked petals, smiling gently, “This rain really messed up our plan.”
“Not necessarily,” Lu Zeyang softly replied. Suddenly, he took her hand and pulled her close to him, throwing the umbrella aside. They stood in the rain.
“Lu Zeyang!” Gu Yunshen exclaimed in surprise, but he pressed her head down and kissed her.
Rainwater slid off their bodies, but she only felt his embrace was warm beyond measure, as if at that moment, the whole world had vanished, leaving just the two of them.
“Turns out a rainy date can be so romantic,” she whispered, a smile on her lips.
“So, no need to fear occasional surprises. As long as we’re together, everything can become beautiful,” he tightly hugged her in the rain.
