The early morning sunlight filtered through the sheer curtains, bathing the kitchen in a golden hue. The air was filled with the comforting scent of toasting bread and sizzling eggs. Gu Yunshen stood at the stove, tying an apron around her waist, while carefully flipping a piece of egg in the pan, keeping an eye on the milk simmering nearby.
“What’s missing?” she mumbled to herself, checking the set table for the plates and the toast she had just popped out of the toaster.
Suddenly, Lu Zeyang appeared in the doorway, carrying a cup of black coffee. He leaned against the doorframe, quietly watching her busy back. His face, softened by the morning light, held a tender smile.
“Mr. Lu, what are you doing up so early? Are you here to help?” Gu Yunshen glanced back at him with a playful smile.
“Not really,” Lu Zeyang took a small sip of his coffee, his lips curling into a faint smile, “I just like looking at my wife, seeing how charming she is in the kitchen.”
“Flatterer,” Gu Yunshen’s cheeks flushed slightly, but she didn’t hide the smile on her lips.
Lu Zeyang moved closer, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind, his voice low and soft: “Yunshen, I realized something. My favorite picture is watching you stand in the kitchen, making breakfast for us.”
Gu Yunshen pushed his hand away gently, but didn’t put much force into it, “Don’t distract me, I’m almost burning the eggs.”
“Burned or not, I’ll eat them,” he said with a smile, showing no sign of releasing her, even lowering his head to kiss her forehead softly.
“Your ego,” Gu Yunshen sighed, but the warmth in her heart was undeniable.
By the time breakfast was ready, Lu Zeyang had already pulled out her chair and poured her a glass of milk. Gu Yunshen looked at his careful and considerate actions and couldn’t help but smile, “You’re like a full-time husband, not the CEO of Lu Corporation.”
“Being your full-time husband? I’ll take it,” he said earnestly, his eyes filled with sincerity.
At that moment, Gu Yunshen suddenly felt that true happiness was simply sharing these simple yet warm daily moments with the one she loved.
